An exhibition featuring photography, video, audio and installation works of the life of people with autism will open at Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi from January 20-28. Art exhibition supports people with autismThe event features art works by young artists come from various backgrounds. Three of them have an older siblings with autism, including Trinh Mai Chi, PQN, Quynh; and three have passion for photography, Le Anh Dung, Duong Thuy Ly, Tram. T . Overseas Vietnamese in US support people and soldiers in Truong Sa
Responding to the appeal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US on April 2ndorganized a fundraiser to support people and soldiers in Truong Sa Island. The event was attended by a large number of overseas Vietnamese, students, businessmen, American friends and staff in the capital Washington. According to the correspondent in Washington, when viewing images about the life of people in Truong Sa and activities of soldiers protecting the sovereignty of the nation, many overseas Vietnamese were moved to tears. The event collected almost 8,000 USD which will be distributed to people and soldiers in Truong Sa through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese during an upcoming tour to Truong Sa. US programme supporting people with disabilities announced
(CPV) -On April 17, US Ambassador David Shear officially introduced a new US-supported programme that will provide a comprehensive range of services benefiting roughly 10,000 Vietnamese people with disabilities. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will fund the USD9 million program, providing vocational training and support to give children with disabilities equal access to education as well as other services. An important aspect of the programme is to build a case management system that will empower people with disabilities to access improved specialised services. The program will help the disabled access organizations to heighten results and their voice through support services, including corrective surgeries, physical therapy, assistive devices, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Amie Phuc Nguyen, a third year medical student at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) visited Nha Trang in June last year to take part in the medical humanitarian activities of the USNS Mercy of the US Navy. The Vietnamese origin woman was one of nine students who were granted scholarships by the American Pharmacists Association. Australia helps Vietnam to support people affected by HIV
PANO - Women and children affected by HIV in Ha Noi and surrounding areas will have access to free counselling and support services from ‘Compassion House’, which has been officially opened today in Ha Dong District, Ha Noi by Australian Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance, Mr Bob McMullan, and President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, Madam Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa. Compassion House, a Vietnam Women’s Union project, will receive A$250,000 from the Australian Government through AusAID, the Australian Agency for International Development. “An increasing number of Vietnamese households are affected by HIV. Stigma and discrimination mean many people living with HIV are denied basic services.
