Hanoi selected to support sustainable product value chains

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has selected Hanoi as the locality to launch the project “Food Safety for Development”. The signing and launching ceremonies of the cooperation program to support Hanoi in building and developing some sustainable product value chains was held this week in the capital city by  MARD‘s  National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department and the city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam. Major electronics show scheduled in Hanoi

Phan Quang Vinh, head of Marketing for RX Tradex, said that in addition to annual activities, the Vietnam Electronics Forum 2022 is a focal event before Vietnam’s only SMT Exhibition on Testing Technologies, Equipment and Supporting Industries for Electronics Manufacturing (NEPCON Vietnam), which is scheduled to take place from September 14-16. It will feature electronic components, cell phone components, flat panel display modules, applications, automotive components, component manufacturing technology and more. Power shortage worries increase hunger for coal

Cao Son Coal, the company with the largest mining output in Vietnam, on July 19 announced to improve and expand the capacity of the Cao Son coal mine in Cam Pha in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, to meet high production requirements. Coal mining companies are increasing output to deal with power generation shortages, Le Toan The mine has total reserves of almost 52 million tonnes, with a designed capacity of about 4.5 million tonnes per year. By upgrading the reserves, Cao Son’s coal mine is expected to complete a record high mining output of 6.78 million tonnes in 2022. Phan Quoc Viet, director of Cao Son Coal, said, “We have mobilised equipment to maximise the exploitation of raw coal at the Cao Son mine. In 2021, we achieved a mining output of over 6.4 million tonnes.” Many miners feel that Cao Son Coal’s plan to increase output faces many challenges, especially considering the increasingly difficult and complex open-pit mining conditions. Pushing economic development in northern midland, mountainous regions

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) — Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has just signed Resolution 96/NQ-CP on the Government's action plan for socio-economic development and ensuring national defence and security in the northern midland and mountainous regions by 2030. Under the action plan, the Government set specific targets for socio-economic development for the regions. The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth in the period of 2021-2030 will reach 8-9% per year, and by 2030, the economic scale of the region will reach about 21 trillion VND (90.5 billion USD), of which agriculture, forestry and fishery will account for 12-13%, industry and construction 45-46%, and services 37-38%. The GRDP per capita will be 140 million VND (6,000 USD) per year (at the current price), and the total state budget revenue will reach about 190 trillion VND (8.1 billion USD). Influenza A outbreak causes vaccine shortage in Hanoi

Hanoi is facing an influenza A vaccine shortage. Between January and April, the city saw some 400 Influenza A patients per month. The figure increased to 556 cases in May and 887 cases in June. According to the Vietnam National Children's Hospital, over the past month, between 200-300 children came for Influenza A vaccination a day. An inoculation centre in Nam Tu Lien District reported that many people are going to the facility for the Influenza A vaccine, but it has run out of it. Some Hanoi communal medical stations have also ran out of the vaccine. People have to register and pay for this service, but supply is limited with rising demand. The same situation has even been reported at at many of Hanoi's big vaccination centres, including the one operated by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology at Lo Duc Street and the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control’s centre on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street.
