Final round of Miss University 2020 held in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – Forty-one outstanding girls are competing for the crown of the Vietnam Miss University 2020 during the final round held from January 13-20 in Hanoi. Themed “The Beauty of Wisdom,” the pageant aims to honour the beauty of wisdom, talent and dynamism of Vietnamese students. The final night will be held at the Viet Xo Friendship Cultural Palace on January 19, and be broadcast live on Vietnam Cable Television (VTV Cab) channels. The jury includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Hung, People’s Artists Minh Hoa and Tu Long, and Runner-up of the Miss Vietnam 2018 Phuong Nga. Vietnam maintains stable exports to Israel in 2020

Tel Aviv (VNA) – Vietnam earned an estimated 700 million USD from exporting goods to Israel in 2020 despite difficulties and obstacles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the  Vietnamese Trade Office in the Middle East country. The figure showed a slight reduction from 774 million USD reported last year. This is said to be a positive result in the context that the Israeli market witnessed fluctuations, disturbances and difficulties amid political instability and negative impacts from the pandemic. Notably in November last year, Vietnam's export value to Israel surged by 27.2 percent compared to the previous month, reaching 51.04 million USD. Turnover of most key export items rose strongly in the month, with coffee up 108.6 percent, footwear (35 percent), phones and accessories (31 percent), and textiles and garments (21.4 percent) cashew nuts (16.9 percent), and seafood products (3.3 percent). Newspaper photographer to display works at US-based exhibition

Hanoi (VNA) – Viet Van Tran, a photographer from the Lao Dong newspaper, has been selected to join others of a free-to-enter online Salon of Photography, entitled “The Connected World: 2020” capturing moments of time in the US and around the world this year. The event, a joint project between the Los Angeles Centre of Photography (LACP) and the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) in San Diego to acknowledge the importance of photography and art in capturing historic world events, is scheduled to run from October 24 to December 31. Its 7-member jury selected 68 entries from 58 photographers for the exhibition out of those from 300 candidates around the globe. Van was the only Vietnamese at the event. Vietnam ready to join hands with other countries in COVID-19 fight

Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung emphasised this during a seminar on co-operation in response to immediate medical challenges, held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in co-ordination with the French Embassy on January 15 in Hanoi. Those in attendance at the event included French Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolas Warnery, Kidong Park, chief representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), and Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, chair of the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association. They were joined by an array of representatives of a number of ministries, localities, hospitals, and enterprises which work alongside France in the health sector. Vietnam determined to reduce GHG emissions by 9 percent in 2030
