Vietnam calls US human rights report subjective
"Vietnam regrets to see that the annual human rights report of the U.S. State Department for 2022 has made comments that lack objectivity, and are based on inaccurate information, about Vietnam’s situation," said deputy spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang in response to the document. Hang added that humans are the central driver of the country’s innovation and development, which only strives to better people’s lives. The Federal Open Market Committee policy statement also said the U.S. banking system is "sound and resilient." Even so, Wall Street ended sharply lower after Powell told a news conference that officials were still intent on fighting inflation while also eying the extent to which recent bank failures had cooled demand and slowed lending.
