HCMC education sector proposes support for primary students in private schools

Specifically, in its proposal, the Department suggested a policy to support tuition fee for all small pupils in private and self-financing primary schools in a bid to create fairness in education and equality between schools. The proposed policy aims to reduce financial pressure on families as well as gradually decrease the number of students in a class in public educational facilities; therefore, it will help to relieve state investment in public schools. Furthermore, this will encourage potential investors to pour money into the education sector by building more private primary schools. According to the proposal, primary pupils living in the southern metropolis in nonpublic and self-financial schools will receive support within nine months. Hanoi students return to schools on March 2

In its document on February 27, authority of Vietnam’s capital city approved with the Department of Education and Training’s submission about the time of returning to school after a long break due to Coronavirus pandemic. According to the document of the Hanoi People’s Committee, high-schoolers will start the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021 on March 2 while college and university students will start on March 8. Hanoi authority assigned departments of education and training, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with people’s committees in districts to supervise schools in implementation of Covid-19 preventative measures to prepare for the new semester. Hanoi gets ready to welcome students back to school

>>> Students in 52 provinces, cities come back to school At an online meeting of the Hanoi Steering Committee for COVID-19 Response on February 26, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung said the Hanoi Department of Education and Training had a written report, asking for the direction from the Hanoi authorities and the Ministry of Education and Training regarding the correct time to welcome back students. The Hanoi People's Committee requested the Hanoi Department of Education and Training develop detailed instructions for schools on medical declarations for students when returning to Hanoi from other localities as well as implementing COVID-19 preventative measures in schools. This weekend, schools were asked to disinfect their campuses and prepare materials for the epidemic prevention, in addition to having a clear approach to managing students. In the coming days, the capital city will relax its social distancing measures to help resume normal activities, but will continuously control, inspect and strictly handle violations of epidemic preventive measures. On February 26, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said it has requested educational units and institutions to build and organise the implementation of plans for epidemic prevention and control in accordance with current best practice, while regularly updating guidance at all levels for timely and effective implementation in each specific period. The department also requires all officers, teachers and students to make a serious and honest medical report upon returning to school from early March, while organising additional medical declarations for inward travel to Ho Chi Minh City during the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
