Hanoi reopens indoor dining with Covid-19 restrictions

Municipal Vice Chairman Chu Xuan Dung said Monday that restaurants and coffee shops must have dividers between seats or ensure that customers are one meter apart from each other. He also urged these establishments to encourage takeaways. Non-essential services like discotheques, bars, clubs, karaoke parlors, and outdoor coffee or tea stalls will remain closed until further notice, he said. Hanoi had banned the operation of restaurants, street tea stalls and cafes on Feb. 16. Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), said that people coming to or returning from Hai Duong on and after March 3, the day the northern province completes its lockdown, must continue to submit health declarations. People returning to Hanoi from Covid-19 hotspots Cam Giang, Kinh Mon and Kim Thanh districts and Hai Duong Town in Hai Duong Province must also quarantine themselves at home for 14 days. A person return from Hai Duong can study and work normally if she/he tests negative for the coronavirus in the latest three days. The capital has not recorded any new community transmission since Feb. 16. But Hoang Duc Hanh, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Health, said the possibility of new infections remains when colleges and universities reopen and the capital starts receiving foreign experts from overseas and people from local Covid-19 hotspots. Hanoi has recorded 36 local transmissions in the country's third Covid-19 outbreak that began on January 28. The nation’s Covid-19 total stands at 2,461 with 1,892 recoveries and 35 deaths. …

March will be eventful month with loads of cultural activities

The Hanoitimes - On the occasion of the International Women's Day on March 8 and International Day of Happiness on March 20, Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will run a series of activities themed “Little Spring” for the whole month. The cultural activities will draw the participation of nearly 100 non-professional artists and people from 14 ethnic groups in 12 provinces and cities throughout the nation such as Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Son La, Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Thua Thien - Hue, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuan, Dak Lak and Soc Trang. Songs and dances on the spring, which praise the beauty of nature, culture and people of the Central Highlands will be showcased at the National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism this March. At the exhibition “Our homeland’s islands”, visitors will watch photos, documentary films and artifacts related to the sea and islands of Vietnam, especially the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa (Paracel & Spratly) islands while at the music show titled  “Love Songs from the Sea”, they will be told about the lives of the marines, their bravery and willing to sacrifice for Vietnam's territorial water protection. On weekends, there will be a cultural event called “The Central Highlands in March - I’m the P’lang flower”, including songs and dances on the spring, which praise the beauty of nature, culture and people of the Central Highlands. Vietnam logs no new COVID-19 infections on March 1 morning Vietnam documented zero COVID-19 infections in the past 12 hours as of 6:00 am on March 1, leaving the national tally unchanged at 2,448 patients, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Earlier, Vietnam reported 16 COVID-19 cases at 6pm on February 28, including 12 locally infected cases in the northern province of Hai Duong, the country's largest COVID-19 hotspot, and four imported cases in the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and Dong Thap. Of the total infections, there were 1,542 domestically-transmitted cases, including 849 recorded since the latest outbreak hit the northern province of Hai Duong on January 27. Ten cities and provinces nationwide have gone through 16 consecutive days without any locally-infected cases of COVID-19, including Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Binh Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Gia Lai, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, Hanoi has recorded 14 straight days of no coronavirus cases. A total 60,693 people who came in close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine nationwide, including 560 at hospitals, 12,298 at other quarantine sites, and 47,835 at home. Among patients under treatment, 62 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 53 twice, and 95 thrice. Report from the Treatment Sub-committee showed that Vietnam has seen 1,876 recoveries so far. In a bid to live safely with the pandemic, people should strictly follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K message: khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering), and khai bao y te (health declaration)./.
