Lee Youngwoo, general manager of Posco Yamato Vina, wants to “establish a robust sales network” across Vietnam while enhancing scrap supply security. In 2020, Posco Yamato Vina was the first to manufacture wide H-shaped steel in Vietnam. According to Lee, the business built a representative office in Haiphong last year in order to “create additional prospects for collaboration” with clients. In the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Posco Yamato Vina operates a steel mill with a capacity of one million metric tonnes per year and produces section steel with a capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year. Export price of Vietnamese rice on the rise
An ongoing rise in Vietnam's rice price is the continuation of a trend that began last year when Chinese and Indonesian importers upped their consumption of the Vietnamese staple. Statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development indicated that Vietnam exported an estimated 900,000 tonnes of rice worth VND11.3 trillion (US$480 million) in March, taking the total volume and value of rice exports in the first three months of the year to 1.79 million tonnes and VND22.3 trillion ($952 million), respectively. While the total value of Vietnamese rice exports surged 30 percent against the same period last year, the volume fell 19 percent. From January to March, Vietnam’s rice export price averaged VND12.5 million ($531) per tonne, up 9.2 percent year on year. Chinese director arrested for allegedly killing pregnant Vietnamese accountant
A Chinese director of a company in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam has been arrested on suspicion of killing a Vietnamese accountant, who was eight weeks pregnant, at his firm, a local police source said on Thursday. Yang Zhong Wu, 47, of Chinese nationality, was detained on Thursday evening while he was holed up in Pleiku City of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, about 460 kilometers from Binh Duong, according to the source. The victim was L.T.M., 30, an accountant of Vinh Nhuan Co. Ltd., located in Binh Duong’s Tan Uyen Town, where Yang is the director. Yang’s arrest came one day after Binh Duong police issued a notice to hunt for him after they examined the scene of the killing at Vinh Nhuan. Work starts on coastal road in Binh Dinh
Construction of a USD1.49 trillion (USD63.41 million) coastal road section in the southern central province of Binh Dinh began on Friday morning. The 4.3-kilometre section is part of the DT 639 coast road project. The six-lane road will link Nhon Phu and Nhon Binh wards in Quy Nhon City. Binh Dinh will have a total of 115 kilometres of coastal road to connect the neighbouring provinces of Quang Ngai and Phu Yen provinces according to government plans. Work starts on Vietnam’s largest-ever green hydrogen plant
The People's Committee of Tra Vinh Province in southern Vietnam on Thursday held a ceremony to kick off a project to build a green hydrogen plant with an estimated investment of VND8 trillion (US$341 million). The project, whose investor is TGS Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen Corporation, an arm of The Green Solutions Group, is the largest-ever green hydrogen plant in the Southeast Asian country. It was designed to cover some 21 hectares of land. Once completed, the project will produce green hydrogen through seawater electrolysis, in which renewable energy will be used to split seawater into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen will be stored in the form of liquefied gas which is easily transported and used in many heavy industries. The green hydrogen factory will help deal with the redundant output of wind and solar power plants.
