This is the first visit to Bulgaria by a chairperson of the Vietnamese N.A. in 15 years, since the trip by then N.A. Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong in 2008. The two countries boast long-standing friendship and cooperation. Bulgaria was one of the first countries in the world to recognize and set up diplomatic ties with Vietnam, on February 8, 1950. The official visit to the European country by then President Ho Chi Minh in August 1957 laid the foundation and marked an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations. Over the last more than 70 years, the countries’ Governments and people have unceasingly nurtured their traditional ties in various fields, from politics, diplomacy to culture, science, education, and security-defense. ASIAD 2023: Vietnamese athlete pockets bronze medal in taekwondo
The men’s individual poomsae category is held in the knockout format. In the morning, Duy earned 7.590 points to surpass Chan Chung Yin of Hong Kong (7.650 points) to advance to the round of 16. Later, with 7.490 points, he obtained a win over Moghis Wahid Khalil I of Saudi Arabia (7.230 points) to enter the semi-finals. In the semi-final in the afternoon, the Vietnamese athlete gained 7.120 points and lost to the Republic of Korea’s Kor Kang Wanjin (7.410 points) to rank third and receive the bronze medal. This is the second medal obtained by Vietnam at this games on the first official competition day. Previously, rowers Dinh Thi Hao, Ha Thi Vui, Pham Thi Hue and Du Thi Bong finished third in the women's coxless fours.
