During the visit, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San checked accommodation and logistic supplies of the unit for new recruits while touring gardens and breeding grounds of Regiment 102 of the division. At the working session with Division 308, the unit’s Commanding Officer Colonel Nguyen Hai Anh briefed the delegation on its preparations for the 2023 recruitment drive. Accordingly, the division has built combat training plan for the first stage, launched refresher courses for commanding officers at all levels, directed affiliates to reinforce training grounds and prepared adequate facilities for the mission. Nearly 9,000 petrol stations nationwide have sent a group letter to PM Pham Minh Chinh, asking for his support to amend petrol trading regulations. They called for the amendment of Decree 83/2014 and Decree 95/2021 on petrol trading. The decrees regulate that petrol retail businesses can only sign contracts with one supplier and are often dependent on them, badly affecting their competitiveness. "That only supplier usually refuses to sell the products ahead of a price hike as they want to wait and get higher profits," the letter said. "As such, we sometimes have to close due to a lack of supply." The retailers proposed that local authorities allow them to get products from at least three suppliers. Doctors at a hospital in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam have successfully removed a sharp bamboo toothpick from the duodenum of a female patient. The patient, 56-year-old N.T.H., had suffered stomach pain since January 21 but she did not see a doctor because it was the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. As the pain escalated, H. was taken to a local medical center where she was diagnosed with foreign bodies in the digestive tract, and was later transferred to Quang Ninh General Hospital. Her CT scan result showed a sharp rod-shaped foreign body about three centimeters long in the second part of the duodenum. Doctors later performed a gastroscopy to remove the object. During the procedure, doctors discovered that the foreign body was a sharp bamboo toothpick, with one end piercing through the intestinal mucosa. Despite difficulties, doctors were able to remove the toothpick from the patient’s duodenum after nearly an hour.
