Keeping the growth momentum, Vietnam is now one of the countries with the largest e-commerce market size in the region, besides Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. Vietnam's internet economy in 2021 grew by 31 percent compared to 2020 and reached a scale of $21 billion. Hanoi needs to remove barriers to develop high-tech agriculture
The Hanoi government will improve mechanisms and policies to encourage the participation of the private sector in the field of high-tech agriculture. Hanoi needs to remove two barriers of capital and land to attract businesses to invest in high-tech agriculture, according to local media. 55 Australia Awards Scholarship recipients ready to study in Australia
The recipients were selected from Vietnamese government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, and private sectors. They will gain a world-class education and advance their knowledge and skills across a range of areas, including natural resource management, entrepreneurship, gender equality, disability inclusion and vocational education management. This year, the Australian Government has provided 10 more scholarships within the framework of the Mekong-Australia Partnership – a regional initiative by Australia to support Mekong countries with common challenges. The recipients will be educated on necessary skills to help Vietnam deal with emerging regional challenges. Lawmakers call for nuclear energy revival, cite zero emissions target
Many countries have recognized nuclear power as a clean type of energy with low greenhouse gas emissions after the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), the National Assembly’s Economic Committee says in a report. Vietnam therefore should consider reviving its plans to develop nuclear energy to ensure energy security and independent economic development, it says. To make this happen, the Party should approve the move and the government should then consider restarting the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project at an appropriate time. The National Assembly had shut down Vietnam’s first nuclear power project in 2016, saying the nation could not afford it then.
