PetroVietnam to develop $19-billion refinery and petrochemical complex
The construction will be divided into two periods. According to PetroVietnam , the group forecasts to complete the dossiers to submit to the government for approving the investment planning in January 2023. The schedule to establish the feasibility report for the complex will last from June to December 2023. The investment decision is expected to be approved in the first quarter of 2024. After that, the group will select the engineering, procurement, and construction contractors, and construction is expected to finish in December 2027. The refinery and petrochemical complex is expected to reduce the burden of dependence on imported petroleum and oil. PetroVietnam calculated that the demand for petroleum and oil in the domestic market will reach 25 million tonnes by 2025, which will increase to 33 million tonnes by 2030. PetroVietnam proposes 19-billion-USD petrochemical complex, oil storage project
A view of Nghi Son Petrochemical and Refinery Plant (Photo: baodautu.vn ) Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petro vietnam ) has proposed the Government invest in a petrochemical and refinery complex and national oil storage in Long Son oil and gas industrial park in Long Son commune, Vung Tau city in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, with a total investment of nearly 19 billion USD in two phases. The complex comprises two parts – a petrochemical and refinery plant project and a project to build a national storage for crude oil and petrol products. In the first phase, the petrochemical and refinery plant will have a capacity of processing 12-13 million tonnes of crude oil per year, along with 0.66 million tonnes of condensate, LPG and Ethane. Phu Quoc man dies trying to save five holidaymakers
A man died after trying to save five people from drowning on Phu Quoc Island. On Wednesday afternoon Nguyen Van Thai, 56, from Duong To Commune, Phu Quoc Island, and some others suddenly heard the call for help from a group of tourists, including three adults and two children, at Truong Beach. One of the five tourists saved by local residents Immediately, the four rushed into the water. When Thai reached the victims, he tried to take them ashore, but he failed because of the rough waves. At the same time, another man named Do Duy Dung, 35, helped to bring the four victims ashore by boat. The remaining victim, who was a child, was saved by another tourist. Thai tried to return to shore, but he was exhausted. Despite being brought ashore and rushed to the Phu Quoc Medical Centre he died.
