Royal Dutch Shell Plc plans to cut more than 400 jobs in the Netherlands, mainly at its major projects and energy technology operations, as the oil giant shifts its business model in response to lower oil prices, according to an internal document seen by Reuters. Shell forging stronger ties with local energy outfit
Shell has restated its determination to focus on Vietnam's energy potential. The Anglo-Dutch oil giant would invest in upstream oil and gas activities in Vietnam through a memorandum of understanding signed with PetroVietnam last week in the Netherlands during the Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's visit. PetroVietnam chairman Phung Dinh Thuc said the deal would open opportunities for further business with Shell. In a recent interview with VIR, Shell Vietnam general manager Thanh Le said that Shell wished to sell LNG to Vietnam and build a large offshore movable LNG terminal next to offshore oil rigs. Nguyen Van Hau, general director of PetroVietnam, said Shell was working with PetroVietnam to find further investment opportunities in upstream activities. The Hanoitimes - The Bio-Energy Team from the Hanoi University of Technology has won the second prize in the ethanol category at the 2012 Asian Shell Eco-Marathon in Kuala Lumpur, losing the top prize in the category to the Luk Jao Mae Khlong Prapa Team from Thailand. The competition drew 1,000 students from 18 countries and territories in Asia and the Middle East who were challenged to design, build and test ultra energy-efficient vehicles. The teams are ICE HUST from Hanoi University of Technology, BK AUTO 07 from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Mechanical, and UTC from University of Transport and Communication.
