On behalf of local leaders, Malsky made his statement while meeting a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine, led by Ambassador Nguyen Anh Tuan. The delegation visited the province at Malsky’s invitation last week to seek business opportunities for Vietnamese firms. Diplomat advises Vietnamese candidates on how to win UK’s Chevening scholarships
A British diplomat shared with young Vietnamese last weekend what he thought to be the key to winning a prestigious scholarship offered by the UK government, pointing out some of the candidates’ misunderstandings. British Consul General Ian Gibbons said on the sidelines of the ‘Leader from Below’ workshop, organized by the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on January 12, that Vietnamese candidates tend not to fully understand what Chevening looks for in its two main requirements: leadership and influencing skills. Firm found for illegal bridge construction at Hue tourist site
A company in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue have built a wooden bridge leading to its floating restaurant at a local tourist site without seeking approval. In 2017, Be Than Trading Ltd. Co. was licensed to build a floating restaurant on Lap An Lagoon in Lang Co to serve tourists. The bridge built illegally at Lap An Lagoon The firm recently built a wooden bridge with dozens of concrete pillars which were not included in the licence. On December 2, local authorities requested the investor to stop the construction. At that time, part of the 43-metre bridge was completed. However, the company ignored the instruction and continued the work which has been almost finished to date. Nguyen Van Manh, chairman of Phu Loc District People’s Phuc Loc Committee, said that the company has been ordered to dismantle the bridge from tomorrow, December 14. European stocks surge on Johnson election triumph, US trade deal
London stocks and the British pound jumped Friday after an election triumph for Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson that analysts said will bring clarity to Brexit proceedings and unlock stronger economic growth. Other European stock markets -- although lagging buoyant London, which rose over two percent at one point -- also powered ahead, supported by confirmation of a partial trade deal between the United States and China.
