Photo: VNA Participants will discuss the issue at the videoconference “Enhancing Cooperation between the United Nations and Regional and Subregional Organizations in Enhancing Confidence-building and Dialogue in Conflict Prevention and Resolution” on April 19 under the chair of Vietnam’s State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc. In a concept note circulated ahead of the debate, Viet Nam has outlined key objectives of the meeting that are intended to promote conflict prevention and resolution, including underscoring the importance of continuously strengthening cooperation between the UN (particularly the Security Council) and regional and sub-regional organizations; highlighting the need to enhance confidence-building measures and dialogue; sharing experiences and illuminating recent best practices with regard to the relationship between the UN and regional and subregional organizations, as well as among regional organizations. At the debate, non-Security Council member states will not be able to speak during the virtual meeting, due to working methods adopted by the Council during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, they will be able to submit written statements to the Security Council Affairs Division that will be incorporated in a compilation document. At the meeting, Council members are likely to underscore the need for the UN and regional and sub-regional organizations to enhance their cooperation and develop synergies on early warning, preventive diplomacy and mediation activities. Tan Son Nhat Airport asks passengers to arrive early, complete forms online

Tan Son Nhat Airport asks passengers to arrive early, complete forms online The Saigon Times Passengers at the Tan Son Nhat Airport - PHOTO: VNA HCMC - The Tan Son Nhat Airport has been facing severe congestion in the past several days, with the operator attributing the situation to passengers’ lack of awareness in following the airport’s policies as well as filing the electronic medical declaration form. For days, the airport has been dealing with an overflow of passengers as the peak holiday season is approaching, resulting in mass congestion at the security screening area. This has had a heavy impact on the airport’s service quality as well as passengers’ attitudes. The peak hours of the morning from 5 a.m to 10 a.m have been seeing a 30% increase in the number of passengers compared to the other hours of the day. Among them, many were assigned to board large aircraft such as Airbus A350 or Boeing 787-9. The airport’s representative explained that after Covid-19 was successfully contained, the travel demand by air began to surge, especially on the weekends. Airlines were asked to appoint extra personnel to ensure that passengers complete the electronic medical declaration form prior to reaching the screening area in addition to implementing measures to relieve congestion as much as possible. However, despite the airport’s efforts to optimize the screening system, many passengers have still not yet completed their declaration forms upon screening, aggravating the congestion. To combat this, airlines have encouraged passengers to arrive at the Tan Son Nhat airport two hours prior to the boarding time and complete check-in procedures online via the airlines’ websites, phone apps, automatic check-in kiosks at the airport, etc. Before boarding, passengers should take the initiative to file the electronic medical declaration form via the website https://tokhaiyte.vn/ and take a screenshot of the QR code after that. Passengers must then …

Australia Covid support for Vietnam to cover vaccine storage, supply

"Australia will be exploring options to procure vaccines which we can support Vietnam with. Some of those vaccines in due course are likely to be manufactured in Australia," Mudie said at a Hanoi press conference Monday. Responding to VnExpress International on any bilateral sharing of the Covid-19 vaccine, she said that while Australia has been manufacturing AstraZeneca vaccines in the country, the current focus is on supporting Vietnam to procure vaccines from safe and reliable sources. Over time, Australia expects some of the homemade vaccines will be part of the country's contribution to Vietnam, she added. At the beginning of the conference, Mudie and Rana Flowers, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam, announced an A$13.5 million ($10.5 million) package to support Covid-19 vaccine delivery in Vietnam. Mudie said the support will help Vietnam purchase cold chain equipment to store and transport vaccine doses to where they are needed around the country. It would also fund training courses and materials to ensure Vietnam's health workers and officials are ready, and assist with the development of immunization plans in Vietnam's remote provinces to ensure equitable and uniform vaccine coverage. Flowers said introducing a new vaccine, especially for Covid-19, was a colossal task for any government with many important steps involved. "No one is safe until everyone is safe, so mass vaccination against Covid-19 is an important step to contain the pandemic, protect frontline workers who serve children and for Vietnam to reopen to the rest of the world." The program will support Vietnam to vaccinate the prioritized 20 percent of population by the end of 2022 and set the foundation necessary for immunizing the remainder of the population as vaccines are rolled out …
