At the event (Photo: VNA) Dong Nai (VNA) – A dialogue between the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) and Korean businesses was held in the southern province of Dong Nai on April 15, attracting representatives from more than 100 enterprises. In his opening speech, VSS General Director Nguyen The Manh said it was the first dialogue of its kind to review the enforcement of laws related to social and health insurance, thus ensuring the rights and interests of workers. It was also meant to specify several tasks on further improving the business climate and national competitiveness in accordance with the Government’s Resolution No.02/NQ-CP dated January 1, 2021. This was a practical activity towards the 30th founding anniversary of Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) diplomatic ties next year. Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Cao Tien Dung hailed the VSS for holding the event to raise awareness of social and health insurance policies among Korean enterprises. Speaking at the event, Lee Jae-guk, an attaché in charge of labour and employment and a counsellor at the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, asked for making clear difficulties in the field and discussing solutions for the coming time. A VSS representative presented new points in social and health insurance policies, reported the implementation of social and health insurance policies among foreign and Korean firms, and  Decree No.143/2018.ND-CP on compulsory social insurance for foreign workers in Vietnam. The representative also mentioned a plan to sign a bilateral agreement on social insurance between Vietnam and the RoK. Hanoi (VNA) - 2021 is considered an important time for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Russia to review their achievements in cooperation and determine related goals in the time to come, towards further deepening the strategic partnership. The two upgraded their relationship to the strategic partnership in November 2018. At the 19th Meeting of the ASEAN-Russia Joint Cooperation Committee (ARJCC) held online, representatives from ASEAN member nations expressed their appreciation of the positive cooperation in bilateral relations. Cooperation programmes and plans between ASEAN and Russia have contributed to supporting ASEAN in realising its goals in community building and narrowing the development gap. The Russia n side stressed that ASEAN is one of the top priorities in its diplomatic policy. It supports the bloc in building the ASEAN Community and in strengthening its central role in the regional structure, and actively joins ASEAN-led mechanisms, thus contributing to peace, stability, and security in the region. The two sides also highly valued the activities of the ASEAN Centre at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), which contribute to promoting scientific cooperation between universities and research centres and promoting people-to-people exchanges between citizens of Russia and ASEAN. In the context of COVID-19, the two sides also committed to promoting joint efforts to overcome the effects of the pandemic and stabilise their economies. ASEAN and Russia agreed to further strengthen the strategic partnership, focusing on areas of mutual interest, such as politics, security, disaster management, technology and innovation, tourism, and the prevention of infectious diseases. Upon addressing the event, Nguyen The Manh, general director of the VSS, said it became the first dialogue of its kind to review the enforcement of laws regarding social and health insurance, thereby ensuring the rights and interests of workers. Lee Jae-guk, an attaché in charge of labour and employment and a counsellor at the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, called for discussions to be held to solve business difficulties in the  near future. A VSS representative also used the platform to present fresh points in social and health insurance policies, whilst reporting the implementation of these insurance policies among foreign and Korean firms. This is along with a Government Decree on compulsory social insurance for foreign workers in the country. The representative also mentioned a plan aimed at signing a bilateral agreement on social insurance between the nation and the RoK.
