Việt Nam should prioritise value added cashew products for EU market

May 21, 2022 by vietnamnews.vn

In April, Việt Nam's cashew exports reached 49,000 tonnes, earning US$290 million. Photo dangcongsan.vn HÀ NỘI — Enterprises should prioritise investment in developing value-added cashew products to avoid losing its market share instead of only focusing on wholesale, according to experts. Việt Nam's cashew nut is dominant in the EU market, however, it is mainly raw material and there are very few processed products, especially roasted and spiced products according to the taste of EU customers. Meanwhile, products made from cashews, especially spiced cashews, chocolate covered cashews, cashew milk, and cashew yoghurt, are becoming more and more popular for EU consumers because they are healthy alternative foods. “Diversifying cashew products has also pushed the demand for those products up in the EU market. Domestic enterprises need to have market research and investment in the processing stage to maintain their market shares in this market," Vũ Anh Sơn, a representative of the … [Read more...] about Việt Nam should prioritise value added cashew products for EU market

As Việt Nam’s growth momentum faces headwinds, with global recovery slowed by the impacts of the pandemic, inflation pressure and a surge in oil prices, National Assembly Deputy Trần Hoàng Ngân talks to Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) newspaper about the need to have appropriate measures to put inflation under control before it’s too late. You have previously proposed using environmental protection and special consumption taxes to control the increase in gasoline prices, why do you persist with this view? Experiences from economic development in Việt Nam and around the world show that high inflation is very dangerous. Therefore, it is necessary to closely monitor the situation and come up with timely solutions. When high inflation occurs, to control it, banks often raise interest rates, which will turn everything upside down and is a very dangerous move for the economy. Therefore, it is necessary to persist in preventing the problem as soon as symptoms of high inflation show. One of … [Read more...] about Expert gives warnings about high inflation, saying immediate solutions needed
