Nearly 300 people took part in a huge tug-of-war game on Thursday within the framework of a festival organized as a memorial to the founder of a city in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region. The culture and information division of Ha Tien City in Kien Giang Province organized the tug-of-war game on the day as part of the festival to commemorate the 287th death anniversary of Mac Cuu, a Chinese exile, according to Nguyen Thi Minh Trang, head of the division. Mac Cuu founded the principality of Ha Tien and ruled it as its first monarch. He died in 1735. Part 2: Vietnam Law of the Sea adds more legal basis to UNCLOS
An important legal framework On the basis of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed the Vietnam Law of the Sea on June 21, 2012. The law started to officially take effect from January 1, 20213, serving as an important legal framework to regulate Vietnam’s relations at sea and oceans. Dr. Tran Cong Truc shared that the Vietnam Law of the Sea has 54 articles in seven chapters. There are four contents legalized in the law, namely the demarcation of sea areas and continental shelves and assertion of sovereignty over islands and archipelagos; activities in Vietnamese waters; marine economic development; and the management and protection of sea and islands. Sea leisure activities suspended following reports of dead corals at nature reserve in Vietnam
The management board of Nha Trang Bay in south central Khanh Hoa Province declared on Friday that all swimming and diving activities at Hon Mun Nature Reserve will be suspended beginning Monday next week and lasting until further notice. The decision was made as a result of the recent bleaching, damage, and decline of many coral species at Hon Mun Nature Reserve and other areas in Nha Trang Bay. According to the management board, the suspension of ocean leisure activities in the areas surrounding Hon Mun Nature Reserve is to comply with the notice issued by the People's Committee of Nha Trang on Friday. The purpose of the suspension is to survey and evaluate the current situation, identify vulnerable locations, and develop a strategy to preserve the Nha Trang Bay Marine Protected Area in the near future. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan said that the Vietstampex was held in 1998 for the first time. Since 2000, the stamp exhibition has become a periodical activity being organized every five years. This is an opportunity for stamp collectors to exchange and spread knowledge on stamp collecting development. Locals and visitors to Hanoi will have a chance to enjoy candid pictures saving the political-diplomatic, economic, cultural and social snapshots of Vietnam during the past two years. The press photo exhibition entitled “The Imprint 3” is underway at the Vietnamese Women Museum in Hanoi. The photo work entitled “Covid Baby” by photojournalist Nguyen Huy Khanh from Water Magazine.
