This river trash capture tool (hereinafter referred to as a “trash trapper”) is financially supported and technically advised by US-based NGO Ocean Conservancy through “Strategic Plastic Litter Abatement in the Song Hong” project. UNESCO Chief Representative in Vietnam Christian Manhart addresses the event (Photo: VNA) Ben Tre (VNA) – A international symposium was held in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on June 29 to discuss the life and career of UNESCO-recognised cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu, a great poet, an enthusiastic teacher and a moral doctor. According to UNESCO Chief Representative in Vietnam Christian Manhart, during the UNESCO’s 41st General Assembly in Paris in November 2021, 193 members of the agency approved a resolution to celebrate the Vietnamese poet’s birthday in 2022. The representative explained that the General Assembly made this decision because Nguyen Dinh Chieu was an outstanding figure, one of the most honoured Vietnamese poet s whose works were translated into many languages. After suffering severe burns across his face as a child, Ngo Quy Hai, a 27-year-old from Vietnam’s Central Highlands, has managed to shed the physical and emotional burden of his injury and become the successful owner of Sunhouse Coffee – a well-known pastry shop in Plei Kan Town, Ngoc Hoi District, Kon Tum Province. Hai burned his face when he was just a few months old after falling out of a walker and landing face first on a boiling pot of porridge. His parents rushed him to Children’s Hospital No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City where he received medical treatment for almost two years. While doctors at the hospital were able to save Hai’s life, his injuries left him so scary that other children refused to play with him. Accordingly, a new decree, coded 38/2022/ND-CP, on raising the regional minimum wage for labourers will come into effect on July 1. The 6 percent increase is equivalent to a rise of 260,000 VND (11.20 USD) in Region 1, and 240,000 VND, 210,000 VND, and 180,000 VND in Regions 2, 3, and 4, respectively. The document to this effect also specifies that the minimum hourly wage will range from 15,600 to 22,500 VND, which also depends on the region.
