Chip giant Synopsys to help Vietnam develop semiconductor industry

The signing took place on Sept. 18 (U.S. time) at the headquarters of Synopsys in San Francisco, California, under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his working trip. The memorandum states that Synopsys will support the Department of Information Technology and Communications Industry in creating a plan to establish a semiconductor research center. Synopsys’ technology is set to be used as samples and prototypes for semiconductor production. Nguyen Thien Nghia, deputy head of the department, said that the partnership with Synopsys allows Vietnamese engineers to be trained by one of the best chip designers in the world. Robert Li, head of sales and customer success group serving Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and India, said that his company is committed to helping Vietnam expand human resources in designing and manufacturing semiconductors. Vietnam needs policies to promote industrialization: Japanese professor

Japan's contributions have helped Vietnam maintain a stable growth trajectory, driven by the far-reaching effects of FDI. Vietnam needs industrialization support policies to encourage industrial development and increase the value added of foreign direct investment (FDI) capital, according to Professor Ikebe Ryo of Japan's Senshu University. Prof. Ikebe Ryo made the remarks at a scientific symposium titled "Vietnam-Japan Relations and Prospects for Economic Cooperation in line with Vietnam's Development Stages" held in Hanoi this week. He talked about the impact of FDI surge on Vietnam's economic growth and industrialization process, and the economic efficiency brought by this source of capital. PM urges Apple to make Vietnam a key supply chain destination

At a meeting with Apple vice president of global policy Nick Ammann on Thursday (U.S. time) in New York, Chinh invited the U.S. tech giant to expand its investment in Vietnam and act as a bridge between the two countries so more American companies will pour their money into Vietnam. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday morning met with Aurélia Nguyen, a Vietnamese French, chief program strategy officer at Gavi, a global Vaccine Alliance, to award her Vietnam’s Friendship Medal for her valuable contributions to the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. The medal demonstrates recognition from the Vietnamese Party, state, and people for her efforts in helping Vietnam fight the pandemic.
