A trade promotion and cooperation conference between Viet Nam and Mexico was held on March 23 in HCM City. — VNS Photo Hong Linh More than 115 businesses have participated in a trade promotion and cooperation conference between Viet Nam and Mexico in HCM City. At the conference on March 23, Deputy Director of the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Cao Thi Phi Van said Mexico was the second largest trade partner of Viet Nam in Latin America, and Viet Nam was the 8th largest trade partner of Mexico in Asia. Viet Nam had been taking advantage of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to reduce the export tax to Mexico. According to the General Department of Customs, bilateral trade in 2022 reached US$5.4 billion, an increase of 7.1 per cent compared to 2021. Mexico is located at the gateway between North America and Latin America, and the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) will be a good springboard for Vietnamese businesses to access the North American market worth more than US$28.5 trillion, ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz said Thursday at the Vietnam-Mexico trade promotion conference. Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa to receive dozens of Chinese tour groups through end of month
Though China added Vietnam to its list of approved countries for group tours on March 15, flights carrying groups of Chinese tourists to Khanh Hoa Province in the south-central region will not resume until March 26, according to Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company. Accordingly, low-cost air carrier Vietjet Air will run about 34 round-trip flights between China and Khanh Hoa from March 26 to March 31. While China Southern Airlines has plans to reopen an air route connecting China with Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa on March 26 with one daily flight, the frequency will float between 25 and 30 daily international flights from mid-April 2023 onward. A group of 16 visitors from Shanghai arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, placing them among the first Chinese travelers to come back to Vietnam following China’s resumption of outbound group tours to the Southeast Asian country starting from March 15. Ho Chi Minh City is the first destination in their eight-day and seven-night itinerary in Vietnam. Ha Long tour boats face partial Bai Tu Long Bay relocation
Authorities of the northern province of Quang Ninh have called on the partial relocation of Ha Long tour boats to Bai Tu Long Bay to operate. The move came after the province opened tourist sites on Bai Tu Long Bay in Van Don District. The list includes Tay Hoi, Tra Ngoc, Cai Lim, Ba Mun and Ban Sen islands which will help diversify tourism products in the city. Travellers can choose Cai Rong or Ao Tien ports in Van Don District as the starting point of their tours. Outbound tours to both Asia and Europe seem to be particularly interesting for Vietnamese travelers during the coming five-day break marking National Reunification Day (on April 30) and May Day (May 1). Hanoi to resume tour boat services on West Lake
As a popular tourist attraction in Hanoi, West Lake used to be home to tour boats, floating restaurants, and other tourist boat services. In 2016, Hanoi People's Committee shut down the lake’s tourist dock and ordered a halt to boat services there due to declining environmental standards and fire hazards. But then, tour boats and floating houses left abandoned by the dock fell into a state of decay. Last year, Hanoi authorities dismantled the abandoned tour boats and floating restaurants along West Lake and restored the area to its original appearance. The lake is famous for the density of historical relics, pagodas and rows of restaurants and coffee shops along its shores. The area surrounding the lake is one of the city's most vibrant centers for international cuisine, and it is also home to a large expat community.
