The head of the Hanoi Party Committee has demanded that the resumption of tourist boats and other services in West Lake be shelved. Dinh Tien Dung, secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, made this statement on Tuesday in response to the municipal People’s Committee’s plan on restoring tourist boats and other services in the lake. The city’s Party leader asked relevant agencies to focus on relocating the remaining old tourist boats in West Lake, ensuring the general appearance of the area is appropriate. When the capital city plans to restore the operation of tourist boats at a certain time in the future, it needs to take all related factors into account to ensure the sustainability of the water environment and protect the lake ecosystem, Dung said.
