Vietnam a regional FDI magnet say experts

July 4, 2022 by en.qdnd.vn

According to Berly D. Alvarez, chairman of the Philippines’s Kaunlad Lending Investors Corporation and a speaker at the 2018 Horasis Asia Meeting held recently in Binh Duong province, Vietnam’s ability to attract FDI is due to its consistent economic reform, a young and increasingly urbanized population, affordable labor, constant improvements to its business climate, and political stability. The fact that it hosted the 2017 APEC meetings highlights its regional economic integration and steadily improving business climate, he added. Vietnam has been attracting investment in infrastructure, including power projects, road and rail construction and renewable energy. Don Lam, CEO of VinaCapital, said Vietnam’s economy remains strong with 6.6 percent growth targeted next year, inflation remaining under control and manufacturing expanding. “More foreign investment is expected to flow into Vietnam in the coming time.” Pakpoom Vallisuta, chairman of The Quant Group Corporation, a … [Read more...] about Vietnam a regional FDI magnet say experts

Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Positive changes in the real estate sector are crucial if the country wants to meet its green growth targets. Along with construction, the sector is the source of nearly 40% of carbon emissions in the world and consumes about 36 percent of total power generated globally, according to experts. Savills cited the Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction 2021 , which showed that in 2020, the real estate and construction sector accounted for 36% of global final energy consumption and 37% of energy related CO2 emissions , as compared to other end use sectors. Vietnam approved a national strategy on green growth for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, which aims to switch the country’s growth model towards a greener economy with the application of a circular economic model through the economical and efficient use of natural resources and energy, and developing sustainable infrastructure for higher growth … [Read more...] about Real estate firms advised to catch up with green growth trend

Confidence drains from UK companies as economic woes mount: BCC

July 4, 2022 by e.vnexpress.net

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said 54 percent of more than 5,700 companies it surveyed between May 16 and June 9 expected turnover to increase over the next 12 months. This is down from 63 percent in the previous survey and the lowest share since late 2020, when many businesses were under some form of Covid restrictions. A record 65 percent of companies said they planned to raise their prices in the next three months. Forecasters like the IMF and OECD think Britain will be hit harder by rising prices than other countries. Three quarters of firms said they had no plans to increase investment, and most no longer expected profits to rise. A survey published by S&P Global on Friday showed reports of rising costs were more widespread among British manufacturers than anywhere else in Europe. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said last week that the central bank might not need to act "forcefully" to get inflation under control, adding there were signs of an … [Read more...] about Confidence drains from UK companies as economic woes mount: BCC

Manufacturing sector ends the first half of 2022 in good health

July 4, 2022 by vir.com.vn

The Vietnamese manufacturing sector ended the first half of 2022 firmly in expansion mode as a lack of disruption from the pandemic supported demand and production. Firms were also increasingly successful in efforts to hire additional staff, with the rate of job creation quickening to a new high. Increased staffing capacity enabled firms to keep on top of workloads, with backlogs reduced for the second time in the past three months. Meanwhile, the shipping of finished items to customers meant that post-production inventories decreased again in June. Further marked increases were seen in both output and new orders at the end of the second quarter, as relative market stability due to a lack of pandemic disruption enabled demand to grow. Rates of expansion were particularly pronounced in the consumer goods category. Meanwhile, the growth of new export orders quickened to the fastest pace in four months, despite some reports that shipping difficulties had limited opportunities to … [Read more...] about Manufacturing sector ends the first half of 2022 in good health
