The Business Climate Index is the leading indicator of the European business and investment community in Vietnam. European businesses in Vietnam expressed their positiveness about Vietnam’s prospects for green growth, according to the latest Business Climate Index (BCI) released by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and YouGov Vietnam. Optimistic exports In 2021, despite COVID-19, Vietnam's goods exports to CPTPP markets recorded encouraging achievements. Japan became the largest CPTPP importer of Vietnamese goods, accounting for more than 52 percent of Vietnam’s export value to the bloc. Meanwhile, exports to Chile and Peru increased 85 and 128 percent over the previous year. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the CPTPP bloc has contributed 15 percent to the global gross domestic product (GDP) and trade. The zeroing of import duties by large markets, such as Japan and Canada, will help Vietnam increase its export value. Vietnam’s major exports, including farm produce and seafood, electricity and electronics, became tax-freed ones as soon as the CPTPP came into effect. The airline is set to receive its 22nd narrowbody Airbus A321 jet and fourth widebody Boeing B7s87 this quarter, CEO and chairman Dang Tat Thang told shareholders at the recent extraordinary shareholders’ meeting of its parent company FLC. The airline currently has 29 jets, comprising 21 narrowbody aircraft, three Boeing B787s and five Embraer 190 regional aircraft, according to aviation data website Planespotters. Its competitors Vietnam Airlines operates 99 aircraft, and Vietjet 77. Thang became the new chairman of Bamboo Airways and FLC in March to replace Trinh Van Quyet who was arrested for alleged stock manipulation. The airline saw revenues rising 150 percent between the first and second quarter this year as travel resumed, Thang said. Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria Ingrid Alice Desiree had a busy agenda in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, as part of her three-day official visit to Vietnam. Crown Princess Victoria, her spouse, and a delegation of high-ranking Swedish officials arrived in the southern Vietnamese metropolis that morning to begin the last day of her Vietnam visit, which ran from May 6 to 8. The crown princess spent more than an hour touring the Saigon River, meant as an excursion to highlight issues relating to the city’s drainage system.  Several of the city’s iconic architectural structures were also pointed out during the tour.
