Vietnam gov’t to mobilize US$15.4 billion via bond auctions in 2021

The Hanoitimes - As of January 20, the total value of government bonds reached more than VND16 trillion (US$694.7 million). The State Treasury of Vietnam plans to mobilize VND350 trillion (US$15.4 billion) by issuing government bonds via auctions at the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) in 2021. Photo: Cong Hung Under the plan, the government would issue bonds with five-year maturity of VND20 trillion (US$886.7 million), seven-year maturity of VND15 trillion (US$433.3 million), ten-year maturity of VND120 trillion (US$886.7 million), 15-year maturity of VND135 trillion (US$5.8 billion), and bonds maturities ranging between 20 and 30 years worth VND30 trillion (US$1.3 billion). During the implementation process, the State Treasury of Vietnam could adjust the issuance volume of bond maturities to suit the market situation and the government spending. According to the Government Bond Auction Plan for the first quarter of 2021, the Treasury will issue bonds with total value of VND100 trillion (US$4.3 billion). As of January 20, the total value of government bonds reached more than VND16 trillion (US$694.7 million). The Treasury will this year strive to complete the 2021 capital mobilization plan assigned by the Ministry of Finance, comply with the state budget and public debt restructuring towards ensuring sustainable safety of the national financial system. It will issue a variety of bond tenors for different investment purposes and create reference interest rates for the market, restructure public debt (government bond repurchase and swap) according to the scheme approved by the Prime Minister. Vietnam announces 2 more Covid-19 deaths, aged 33 and 47

The Hanoitimes - The two patients are the youngest victims in Vietnam so far. Two women diagnosed with Covid-19, aged 33 and 47, died on August 10, taking Vietnam’s pandemic death toll to 13, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH). Both patients are residents of Danang, the national outbreak epicenter now, and had suffered several serious pre-existing illnesses. The first victim, Patient No.430, was a 33-year-old female with late-stage kidney failure, heart failure, sepsis, and hypertension. She felt fatigue and shortness of breath and was referred to Danang Hospital on July 23. The patient was isolated and sampled for coronavirus testing and the result came positive on July 26. The two latest Covid-19 fatalities suffered several serious pre-existing illnesses. Illustrative photo: Hoang Giam She was transferred to Hue Central General Hospital in the neighboring province of Thua Thien-Hue on July 30 where she was placed on artificial blood filtration and then on a ventilator. She was intubated and put on mechanical ventilation on August 1 before getting connected to ECMO, a form of out-side-the-body life support, two days later. Her conditions continued worsening and she died at 0:30 on August 10. The second fatality was Patient No.737, a 47-year-old woman, also with late-stage kidney failure, heart failure and hypertension. On July 27, she tested negative for the coronavirus while in quarantine, but a second test on August 4 turned positive. She was transferred to Danang Hospital and then to Hoa Vang district’s medical center on August 6. She suffered from respiratory failure on August 9 and had to be put on a ventilator. She died at 1:15 on August 10 after having gone into a deep coma. The two patients are the youngest victims in Vietnam. August 16: Vietnam reports one more Covid-19 casualty, death toll hits 24

The Hanoitimes - So far, all dead victims in Vietnam are adults with certain underlying medical conditions. Vietnam reported one more death from Covid-19 on Sunday, lifting the death toll to 24, all with pre-existing medical conditions. Photo: Tuan Dung The latest victim is an 82-year-old woman from Danang, the epicenter in Vietnam since the return of SARS-CoV-2 late in July. Pneumonia caused by Covid-19 and septic shock are attributed to the death of the woman that suffered meningitis for years. The first deaths of Covid-19 in Vietnam was recorded after the resurgence of the virus in the community. Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son said among Covid-19 patients with pre-existing diseases, those with acute renal failure and hemodialysis treatment are at high risk of fatality. So far, 14 out of 24 Covid-19 deaths in Vietnam are patients with kidney failure. He noted that since the beginning of the pandemic in Vietnam, the health ministry has adjusted medications for Covid-19 patients six times based on scientific knowledge and experiences. Each Covid-19 patient gets treatment that is provided by both on-site resuscitation specialists and the country’s leading health professionals through online consultations. Explaining why Vietnamese doctors could cure Patient No.91, a British pilot who experienced more than three months in critical conditions, Mr. Son said Vietnamese casualties are mostly elder adults with certain underlying medical conditions while the British patient was quite young, aged 43, and had good health. Echoing Mr. Son, doctor Tran Thanh Linh who directly treated Patient No.91 said the man suffered only repeated sepsis and had good resistance to the disease. …
