The regulator has reduced the number of inspections for 2020 to enhance their quality – PHOTO: INFONET HCMC – The State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) will scrutinize 16 ministries and central agencies; 40 provincial-level governments; and a number of financial institutions, banks and State-owned firms next year. In a decision recently signed by SAV Auditor General Ho Duc Phoc, the number of audit checks in 2020 will be lowered by some 20% compared with this year. The move is primarily intended to enhance the quality of audit activities. The results were released at a dialogue organised by the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD) on Friday in Hà Nội, with more than 150 participants. The event called for co-operation among organisations to eliminate physical and psychological abuse against children. The national children protection hotline 111 has received three million calls for help in the past 14 years. Fintech firms concerned about foreign ownership cap

Virgina Foote, a representative of AmCham Vietnam (Photo: danviet) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - A draft regulation put forward by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) that would limit the foreign ownership rate in the payment intermediary service sector to 49 percent was discussed at a workshop in Hanoi on December 12. Legal experts, fintech and e-payment firms attended the workshop held by the Vietnam Chambers of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The draft decree includes new policies on the legal synchronisation of cryptocurrencies, managing cross-border payment activities, providing non-account payment services, payment management, perfecting regulations for payment intermediary services, and foreign investment in payment intermediaries. Article 29 sets out the maximum percentage foreign investors can hold, including direct and indirect ownership, at 49 percent of charter capital of an intermediary payment service provider licensed by the State Bank of Vietnam. In the 2021-2030 period, Vietnam aims to prevent pollution and environmental degradation, and gradually improve environmental quality. The national environment protection strategy by 2020 with the vision until 2030 was approved by the Prime Minister in September 2012. After seven years of implementation, the picture of Vietnam’s environment has many bright parts with the environment considered one of three important pillars of sustainable development. Nguyen Trung Thang, deputy director of the National Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment Regarding clean water supply, 86 percent of population now can access clean water, higher than the 80 percent in 2010. HCM City authorities are demanding that district authorities strictly enforce regulations on separating land plots for sale, especially in suburban areas where the practice has led to rising prices.
