The US, China, and the EU remain the three largest markets for Vietnamese cashew, accounting for 26.8 percent, 17.7 percent, and 20.5 percent of the total export value of the cashew industry of Vietnam, respectively. Cashew nut exports to the US market declined by 10.1 percent in volume and 30.5 percent in value over the same period last year. Cashew nut exports to the EU market surged by 14 percent in volume but dropped by 21.2 percent in value. Cashew nut exports to China jumped by 136.4 percent in volume and 140.2 percent in value. Meanwhile, Vietnamese cashew processing enterprises imported 480,000 tons of raw cashew in April, spending up to $772 million, a sharp increase of 375 percent in volume and 470.5 percent in value compared to that in April last year. A survey conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2021 revealed that at least 33% of the surveyed businesses use e-contracts in their commercial activities. The application not only helps firms and their customers be more efficient, but also contributes to reducing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the gap in commercial transactions. As a result, it helped companies save 70% of printing and delivery costs annually and shortened the process of providing products to customers by 50%. As more Vietnamese are seeking air travel services this summer, air ticket prices have increased as airlines are grappling with surging fuel costs and staffing challenges. Prices for flight tickets on many domestic routes operated by Vietnam’s five major carriers went up 20-40 percent for the last week of June compared to two months ago, according to an analysis by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper. Airfares for international flights to and from Vietnam also soared 20-35 percent compared to pre-pandemic rates, according to a representative of Transportation Services Company (Worldtrans), a Vietnamese air charter provider. Illustrative photo (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) has recommended that wooden cabinet producers and exporters continue to review the export activities of their products subjected to the US Department of Commerce (DOC)’s anti-circumvention and anti-subsidy investigation. The recommendation was made given DOC’s fresh announcement on extending the time to submit comments and provide feedback to the case by one week. As such, the new deadline is 5pm of June 30 (Eastern Time) or 4am of July 1 (Vietnam time). The authority also requested the producers and exporters to study thoroughly the US’s anti-circumvention regulations and investigation procedures.
