FTX Crypto Cup features eight grandmasters including Carlsen (Elo 2,864), Alireza Firouzja (2,778), Levon Aronian (2,775), Anish Giri (2,760), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (2,740), Liem (2,728), Hans Niemann (2,687) and Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa (2,661). The first four players are in the world's top 10. Carlsen and Duda qualified for the tournament by default as they are first and second on the overall CCT standing. Aronian and Praggnanandhaa made it to the finals of the most recent two regular CCT tournaments (Chessable Masters and FTX Road to Miami), qualifying them for FTX Crypto Cup. Organizers also gave two invitation slots to Liem and Giri, who are fourth and fifth on the CCT standing. Vietnamese athletes bagged seven more gold medals on August 5, the last competition day of the ASEAN Para Games 2022, retaining their third place in the medal tally. Weightlifter Le Van Cong celebrates his victory in Indonesia. On August 5, they clinched four gold medals in swimming and three other gold medals in chess. Notably, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu set a new record in the women’s 100 freestyle when she reached the finish line with a time of 1 minute 25 seconds 11. The Vietnamese swimming team comprising Nguyen Thanh Trung, Do Thanh Hai, Danh Hoa and Le Tien Dat also broke the Games’ record in the relay. Nguyen Manh Phu finished first in the final of the men's 100m freestyle -S4 with a time of 1:49:22. Trinh Thi Bich Nhu broke a record at the Games to win gold in the women’s 100m freestyle - S6 with a time of 1:25:11.
