Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Electricity (EVN) plans to get connected with banks and other organisations by the end of August to allow customers to pay electricity bills through QR-code from September this year. According to Nguyen Quoc Dung, head of the EVN Business Department, the application of payment through QR-code is part of the firm’s efforts to realise the Prime Minister’s direction regarding the building of a cashless society. In order to make it easier for customers during the payment process, the EVN will provide each of them with a QR-code to use for all transactions with the EVN. Hanoi (VNA) – Foreign media have run several articles highlighting Vietnam’s economic success given a struggling world plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Nikkei Asia Review said Vietnam’s production sector has proven its fast and steady recovery. The country’s open market and signing of numerous free trade agreements (FTAs), particularly the EU-Vietnam FTA, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), are promising great opportunities for growth. The paper said Vietnam stands out for its success in controlling the pandemic. 14th Shangri-La Dialogue: dialogue to build trust, transparency
The 14th Shangri-La Dialogue ended in Singapore on May 31 with a message that dialogue is needed to build trust and transparency. German Defence Minister Ursula von der Layen said this is the first time German has joined the dialogue, which gives the country an opportunity to exchange experience and learn from other countries. She highlighted that transparency and trust building is key to cooperation, adding that together with security structure and mutual benefit they are the pillars for successful partnership. Sharing Layen’s opinion, New Zealand Defence Minister Gerry Brownlee said his country attaches much importance to the maintenance of peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
