Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long asked local healthcare facilities to coordinate with the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institute to diagnose monkeypox cases and strengthen prevention and control measures of monkeypox. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed a rise in monkeypox cases in several countries. The first case of monkeypox was reported in the UK on May 13. At least 92 monkeypox virus cases have been confirmed in countries, including the US, the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Sweden and others. No deaths have been reported; about 28 cases in these countries are potential cases. One of the Monkeypox symptoms and signs is skin rash. Remains of martyrs repatriated from Laos reburied

(Photo: VNA) Nghe An (VNA) – A respect paying ceremony and a reburial service were held at a martyrs’ cemetery in the north-central province of Nghe An on May 25 to rebury the remains of 103 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in Laos. Participants expressed their gratitude to the martyrs for their contributions and sacrifice for the national construction and defence as well as international duties in Laos. The remains, repatriated by a team of Nghe An Military High Command in Laos’ Xiangkhouang province in the 2021-22 dry season, was handed over to the Vietnamese side on May 22-23. Projects promoting Vietnamese fashion, young designers launched
Fashion designer Vo Viet Chung (R) and the Vietnam Design Association (VDAS) sign a cooperation agreement on organizing the Fashion Design Voices program. The program includes three projects of a reality TV show of future Vietnamese fashion designers, VietSilk International Fashion Week and Heritage Fashion Design Awards. It aims to inspire young people to promote design skills and the trading of Vietnamese fashion products, connect the fashion community, share a passion for fashion and develop the fashion designing market. Fashion designer Vo Viet Chung hoped that the cooperation will contribute to the building and development of the Vietnamese fashion industry. Localities urged to step up vaccination against Covid-19

(Photo: VNA) Some localities have recently proposed not receiving vaccines or transfer the allocated vaccines, leading to the fact that the Covid-19 vaccination target is likely to be missed, the ministry said, citing a report from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE). As of May 21, more than 219 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide. Localities have made great efforts in rolling out vaccination campaigns to ensure its safety and effectiveness and achieve a high vaccination rate. The number of vaccines received by the MoH is enough to give the 3rd and 4th shots for people aged 18 years and older who are eligible for vaccination, it said. Transport Ministry announces projects with slow disbursement
The projects invested by the ministry include the transport project connecting mountainous Northern provinces, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road No. 3 project, the construction of Dien Chau-Bai Vot section of the North-South expressway, My Thuan – Can Tho Expressway, construction of the Interconnecting Road to National. Highway No 91 and Long Xuyen City bypass, the subproject on upgrading and renovating National Highway 279B, construction of the National Roads of 21B and 15, and the project to upgrade the runways at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The Ministry of Transport has disbursed VND15,080 billion (US$650 million), reaching 34.9 percent of the plan. The ministry has allocated VND45,343 billion (US$1.95 billion) for a public investment plan in 2022 to investors, achieving 90 percent of the Prime Minister’s plan.
