SARS-CoV-2 Omicron sub-lineage BA.5 enters Vietnam
Prof. Lan said that gene sequencing results showed that the sub-variant BA.5 of Omicron has been found in Vietnam. “This variant may overwhelm the old sub-variants (BA.1 and BA.2)," he underscored. The intrusion is inevitable because the sub-variant has been seen in countries in Europe and the US and travel activities among countries have been allowed, he said, adding that the Ministry of Health will continue to monitor pandemic developments. The number of Covid-19 cases has been falling with a very low ratio of infections and deaths. Patients mostly suffered Omicron’s sub-variant BA.2 with mild symptoms. Prof. Lan attributed the results to a high vaccination ratio and effective activities to protect high-risks groups. He said initial research showed the Omicron sub-lineages BA.4 and BA.5 spread faster than BA1 and BA.2. There has been no specific evidence on the new … [Read more...] about SARS-CoV-2 Omicron sub-lineage BA.5 enters Vietnam
No home loans against legally incomplete projects: central bank
The central bank is seeking feedback on its draft circular that sets stricter conditions for real estate loans as a measure to mitigate speculation and risk of a bubble burst. If projects have not yet become legally eligible, there is a high possibility of customers and owners canceling the contract over the failure in acquiring needed permits. This will complicate commercial banks’ management of capital and potentially pose risks to the economy, the central bank argues. Le Hoang Chau, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Real Estate Association (HoREA), deemed the move "necessary", noting that loans are still allowed for projects that meet legal requirements. "The draft not only helps protect customers’ rights and benefits, but also build a healthier real estate market," Chau said. Tran Khanh Quang, director of property developer Viet An Hoa, estimated that around 20 percent of homebuyers pay their deposits with loans. The approval process for these loans have been tightened in … [Read more...] about No home loans against legally incomplete projects: central bank

Administering the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccination to residents in the northern province of Ninh Bình. — VNA/VNS Photo Hải Yến HÀ NỘI — Third and fourth booster doses of vaccine against COVID-19 sustainably maintain the effectiveness of COVID-19 prevention and control, said the Ministry of Health (MoH). In a press meeting about COVID-19 vaccination held in Hà Nội yesterday, the MoH said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the US Centres for Disease Control recommend booster vaccinations against COVID-19 to prevent and control the pandemic. Studies around the world have proved that the protective effect of the COVID-19 vaccine primary dose decreases gradually within six months after vaccination and in the presence of new strains. Therefore, those who have received the basic injection, if they do not receive the booster dose, are still at risk of the disease. People who have suffered from COVID-19 are still likely to be reinfected and have complications from the … [Read more...] about Ministry clarifies importance of booster COVID-19 vaccinations
