Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone (Photo: baodautu.vn) Quang Tri (VNA) - The central province of Quang Tri is calling for investment in 80 key projects in a wide range of fields under an investment attraction plan for the 2023-2025 period, with a vision until 2030. The investment portfolio includes four projects in energy development, 14 in agricultural production and processing, 14 in industrial manufacturing, 22 in infrastructure development, and 30 in education, healthcare and tourism. The plan highlights Quang Tri’s advantages as an important hub of many transport links and as the starting point of the east-west economic corridor linking Laos, Thailand and Myanmar with seaports in central Vietnam. International Monetary Fund chief Kristalina Georgieva said on Sunday that risks to financial stability have increased and called for continued vigilance although actions by advanced economies have calmed market stress. The IMF managing director reiterated her view that 2023 would be another challenging year, with global growth slowing to below 3% due to scarring from the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and monetary tightening. Even with a better outlook for 2024, global growth will remain well below its historic average of 3.8% and the overall outlook remained weak, she said at the China Development Forum. The IMF, which has predicted global growth of 2.9% this year, is slated to release new forecasts next month. Georgieva said policymakers in advanced economies had responded decisively to financial stability risks in the wake of bank collapses but even so vigilance was needed. Vietnam will add more countries to its visa waiver program, offer a longer visa-free stay, and expand the list of countries eligible for e-visa application, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told a teleconference on tourism development in 2023 titled ‘Boosting Tourism Recovery and Promoting Growth’ on Wednesday this week.
