Nguyen Quoc Toan, Director of the ministry’s Centre for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics, said at a recent forum in Hanoi to promote digitization to support traceability of agricultural and food products that traceability is one of the eight key issues in digital transformation of the agricultural sector. According to him, Vietnam currently has around 19,000 cooperatives, 14,200 enterprises, and 7,500 processing facilities in the agricultural sector, along with about 9,400 supermarkets and markets, which constitutes the Big Data part of the sector. Therefore, traceability of agricultural products must be holistic and specific, he stressed. New criteria for OCOPs

Dao Duc Huan, head of the OCOP Management Department, Central Coordination Office for New-style Rural Development (CCO), said the new set was laid down to replace the old set issued in 2019, which has begun to show cracks after four years being in place. As the old set had overlooked a wide range of products specified in Decision No.490, the new one has fixed the cracks by expanding its scope to cover the missing pieces. It has also altered old scoring rules by assigning a maximum score of 40 points to the "community strength" category, 25 points to "marketing capabilities", and 35 points to "product quality". Quang Ninh to have another airport on Co To Island
Co To Island, about 170 kilometers from Hanoi, has great potential for sea and island tourism. Vietnam's northern coastal province of Quang Ninh will build an airport in the island district of Co To, according to the province's aviation plan approved by the prime minister for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050. Tons of ivory found at northern port
Local authorities said Monday they had found the tusks, which were illegally trafficked from Africa in three suspicious containers. The containers belonged to a haul that began in Angola, was then transported to Singapore, and finally to the Nam Hai Dinh Vu Port in Hai Phong. The containers were inspected when authorities noticed that the receiver’s details were labeled inaccurately. One container alone contained over 7 tons of elephant tusks, and authorities said the total amount of trafficked goods could amount to dozens of tons. The Hai Phong Customs Department said the amount of elephant tusks found was the largest haul to ever be discovered in the city. Earlier this month, Hai Phong customs officers also found a total of around 610 kg of trafficked elephant tusks on two occasions.
