The figures for the same quarters in the last three years of 2019, 2020 and 2021 were 7.1 per cent, 0.52 per cent and 6.73 per cent, respectively. In Q2 this year, the agriculture-forestry-fishery sector increased 3.02 per cent, contributing 4.56 per cent to the overall growth of the economy. The industry and construction sector was up 8.87 per cent, making up 46.85 per cent, while the service sector rose by 8.56 per cent, contributing 48.59 per cent to the general GDP growth, Huong said. Vietnam’s 6-month agro-forestry-fishery exports up 13.9% year on year, US largest importer
Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports in the first half of this year reached nearly US$28 billion, a remarkable rise from a year earlier, with the U.S. being the biggest importer, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. In a recent report, the ministry said the total export value of the three categories amounted to about $27.88 billion in the year to June, registering a 13.9 percent increase from the same period last year, with the U.S. topping the list of major purchasers, followed by China and Japan. Vietnam’s second-quarter GDP growth hits a decade-long record high
According to data from the General Statistics Office, along with the impressive second-quarter GDP, the six-month GDP growth stands at 6.4 per cent, which is the best performance in three years. Last year's first-half GDP growth was 5.7 per cent. Manufacturing and processing is the growth engine of the economy as it picked up nearly 9.7 per cent in the first half. Industry and construction growth climbed 7.7 per cent, while the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors posted growth of 2.8 per cent in the first half of 2022. Services also grew by 6.6 per cent following the reopening of tourism. Industrial production recorded robust growth across key segments with clothing production up 23 per cent and electronic components up 22 per cent thanks to factories being able to ramp up production with the waning of the Omicron wave. Quan said the establishment of environmental standards in more than 400 industrial parks and 18 economic zones across the country was to play a significant role in resolving environmental issues, reducing waste and achieving sustainable development. The MPI had been gathering data and feedback in preparation to set up Vietnam's industrial environmental standards.
