According to data of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, last year, two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia hit US$12.4 billion for the first time, up more than 49 percent compared with that of 2020. The value of shipments to Australia reached more than US$4.45 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent. Vietnam spent nearly US$8 billion in importing goods from Australia, up nearly 70 percent against 2020’s figure. An additional 1,587 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Friday, raising the national tally to over 10.70 million, according to the Ministry of Health. According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 48 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (373), Phu Tho (102), Vinh Phuc (92), Nghe An (66), and Yen Bai (65). As of Friday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.70 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
