Addressing a meeting of the Government’s standing board on the situation during the nine-day Tet holiday on February 11, the first working day after Tet, PM Phuc also pointed to existing problems such as the still high number of traffic accidents and the unlawful use of firecrackers, urging relevant agencies to do their jobs better. Prime Minister urges banks to lend more to stop loan-sharking

Photo by VnExpress/Pham Du Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said banks need to lend more, especially to poor people, to overcome the loan-sharking crisis. He admitted at a conference Wednesday that though loan-sharking is prohibited, the problem persists in many rural areas, causing serious financial harm to people. One reason for its prevalence is the difficulty in getting bank loans. The PM concurred with the World Bank's warning that the ratio of the Vietnamese population without access to credit is high. "Banks are partly responsible for this issue since they have not been able to extend their services to remote and rural areas." The banking sector needs to more proactively coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to better handle the loan-sharking crisis and make credit more accessible to people, especially the poor, he said. Deputy Prime Minister works on urban administration pilot scheme in Ho Chi Minh city
(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai co-chaired a conference on Monday, approving a pilot scheme on urban administration in the city. The scheme includes 6 parts, focusing on the restructuring of the administrative management at all levels, regulations on Party organization, the Fatherland Front, political and social organizations in urban administration and human resource development for the plan's implementation. Deputy Prime Minister Phuc said Ho Chi Minh city was the economic, cultural and social center of Vietnam, so it was necessary to create favorable conditions for the city to fully utilize its potential.
