Serbia's Novak Djokovic celebrates after winning against Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas at the end of their men's singles semi-final tennis match on Day 13 of The Roland Garros 2020 French Open tennis tournament in Paris on October 9, 2020.(Thomas SAMSON / AFP) The world number one told Serbian daily Sportski Zurnal that due to the revised ranking system created amid the coronavirus pandemic he could not win any additional ranking points at next month's ATP event in the French capital. Djokovic said his main priority is to remain first in the rankings until at least March 8 next year to break Roger Federer's record for most weeks in the ATP's top spot. Rankings are calculated by the players' best results between March 2019 and December this year. Djokovic, collected 1,000 points by wining in Paris last year and so cannot add to his total by playing there. "I won't play the Masters in Paris as I can't win new points there. But I will go to Vienna and London", Djokovic said. "I didn't play in Vienna last year and I can win up to 500 points there. There are lot of points to be won in London as well." Djokovic, 33, who lost the French Open final to Rafael Nadal earlier this month is training in Belgrade. He said he has to keep an eye on Nadal and Dominic Thiem, the two men closest to him in the rankings. "It depends also on Nadal and Thiem's score until the end of this year, and also on following Australian Open, but I am in a good position," Djokovic said. Djokovic is almost 2,000 points ahead of second best Nadal, but the Spaniard demolished the 17-time Grand Slam winner aside 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in the Roland Garros final. AFP …

Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel Do Minh Hung (Photo: VNA) Tel Aviv (VNA) - Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) across the world celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in different forms due to the impacts of COVID-19 . On February 10, the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel hosted a virtual gathering to celebrate Tet with the Vietnamese workers and students who are working at Israeli agricultural cooperation centres. The Tet celebration went online to ensure safety for the participants since the COVID-19 situation has become complicated in the nation. Briefing the OVs on the domestic and international situation in the past year, Vietnamese Ambassador Do Minh Hung laid stress on the critical damage of the COVID-19 outbreak to the world. However, he said, Vietnam was successful at completing the dual tasks of preventing the pandemic while maintaining GDP growth of nearly 3 percent to ensure local social welfare. Talking about the Vietnam-Israel relations, the diplomat underscored bilateral cooperation across trade, aviation and labour, with trade as a highlight with exchange value topping 1.3 billion USD, compared to1.1 billion USD in 2019. Czech diplomat writes on Vietnam’s fourth industrial revolution strategy

Illustrative image (Source: baoquocte.vn) Prague (VNA) – The development of the digital economy in Vietnam will create new opportunities for Czech companies operating in this field in the Southeast Asian nation, particularly in cyber security or digital banking, according to Czech diplomat David Jarkulisch . The diplomat at the Czech Embassy in Hanoi recently wrote an article on Vietnam’s newly-approved strategy on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, posted on the Czech Foreign Ministry’s website mzv.cz. He said that Vietnam's new strategy has relatively ambitious goals. It aims to transform the current growth model mainly based on the use of cheap labour and targets the digital economy contributing to 30 percent of the GDP by 2030. In addition to the rapid introduction of new technologies and the digitization of the economy, it also expects the overall competitiveness of the economy to grow and Vietnam's position in international comparisons to improve significantly. Within ten years, Vietnam may be among the top 40 countries in the Global Innovation Index, the top 30 countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) and the top 50 countries in E-Government Development Index (EGDI). As part of the strategy, the Vietnamese government has also identified 99 priority technologies, which it will focus on supporting, including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, quantum technology, bioinformatics, aerospace technology, remote sensing technology, research and development of high-resolution screens, or advanced 3D printing technology. However, Vietnam is not at the very beginning in the development of the digital economy. Already during the last five years, the country has managed to prepare a relatively good starting position and create the basic preconditions for further growth.
