PANO - The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has inaugurated and handed over a pottery poster, named Truong Sa-Vietnam’s Power, to troops and people in Truong Sa Island district. This meaningful gift from the PetroVietnam Veterans Association and its affiliated units is designed and made by painters Nguyen Thu Thuy, Nguyen Hoang Tung, Trinh Ba Quat and Do Nhu Diem. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chairman of Truong Sa Town People’s Committee Pham Van Hoa stressed that the painting, a new arts work on Truong Sa Island, is seen as a greeting to any guests of the island. The town’s cadres, troops and people will consider it the spiritual symbol of power of the national great unity. Dong Ho paintings – unique folk culture in Red River Delta
In the past, Dong Ho paintings were used as decorations at homes in the Red River Delta during the lunar New Year festival (Tet). Hanging a Dong Ho painting in the house at the beginning of a new year was believed to bring happiness and prosperity for the family. The folk paintings have become part of Vietnamese life through generations and are now used in the modern arts, including painting, sculpture, fashion, and pottery. Dong Ho painting is special because it is printed by hand entirely from woodblocks. Each painting has one woodblock for the outline and several others for printing colors.
