Three wartime bombs safely handled

Earlier, on March 18, the Military Command of Tan Ky district was informed of three bombs found by local people in Nghia Son village, Nghia Hop commune while leveling land for gardening some 50 meters from home. The command immediately sent troops to the scene which was sealed off and planted with signs of dangerous area by the Military Command of Nghia Hop commune. The bombs, 25cm in diameter, 120 cm in length, and some 120kg in weight, were destructive bombs with detonators. The city Department of Planning and Architecture has submitted the proposal to the People’s Committee as a measure to improve the bustling shopping street, which has been cleared after years of being blocked for the metro construction. The street, which runs from the Saigon Opera House to Ben Thanh Market, saw its barriers removed last August but not enough has been done to reboot business activities there, the department said. Since the large trees that had lined the street were removed for the metro construction, putting up a canopy over the sidewalks would be a good idea, it said. Ho Chi Minh City’s water suppliers announce low pressure, shut-off for this weekend

Gia Dinh Wasuco JSC and Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), two water suppliers of Ho Chi Minh City, have issued notices for a water disruption that is expected to affect 12 districts this weekend. The service disturbance started at 9:00 pm on Friday and will last until 5:00 pm on Saturday for technicians to repair pipes, leaving the entirety of Binh Thanh District, Phu Nhuan District, Wards 12, 13, 14 in District 3, and Ward 1 in Go Vap District to experience low water pressure, according to Gia Dinh Wasuco’s announcement. Sawaco also said that it will temporarily suspend water supply in some districts for the routine maintenance of Tan Hiep Water Plant from 10:00 pm on Saturday to 4:00 am on Sunday.
