Domestic air carriers post huge profits in H1Le Anh HCMC – Domestic airlines posted huge revenues and profits in the first half of 2017 following a 19.5% year-on-year growth of the aviation market with the number of air passengers reaching 30.3 million, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV). There are currently 63 foreign airlines from 25 countries and territories operating international flights to and from Vietnam. On the domestic market, four domestic airlines namely Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and VASCO are operating 52 domestic air routes connecting Hanoi, Danang and HCMC with 18 local airports. As many as 45 free wifi hotspots will be available in 21 major tourist destinations in Ha Giang city and the four mountainous districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac. Director of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications in Ha Giang Nguyen Van Bac said the wifi hotspots will become operational early this month. ICT firms post huge revenues in Jan-Sept Van Ly HANOI - Three major local telecom firms – Viettel, VNPT and MobiFone – obtained total revenues of VND300 trillion (US$13.45 billion) in January-September. Hoang Son, deputy general director of Viettel, said the military-run group registered revenue of VND172 trillion (US$7.7 billion) and pre-tax profit of around VND32.4 trillion (US$1.4 billion) from both domestic and overseas markets, meeting 72% of its full-year target. Viettel has a total of 27 million subscribers in nine foreign markets where it is present and the figure is equivalent to half of the group’s subscribers in Vietnam, Son said at a meeting of the Ministry of Information and Communications in Hanoi on Wednesday.
