To satisfy requirements in the transformation of the rice sector, the institute has adjusted its research strategy, its Director Tran Ngoc Thach said, adding that apart from productivity, resilience to insects and quality, attention has been paid to issues regarding fertilizers, greenhouse gas emissions and tolerance to the environment during the research of rice varieties. In his remarks, Ngo Sy Anh, General Manager of Vietnam Airlines branch in Japan, affirmed the importance of the Japanese market to the company. Before the pandemic, the airline ran 68 flights every week to connect four major cities of Japan to Vietnam’s Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. In 2019, it carried 1.6 million passengers on these routes. With the Vietnamese Government deciding to resume regular international flights from January 1 last year, Vietnam Airlines is now operating 42 flights linking the countries. At the event, participating Vietnamese travel, accommodation companies and carriers introduced Vietnam’s potential and attractive sites to their Japanese peers. International conference talks heritage’s role in sustainable development
The conference, themed “Promoting the role of world cultural and natural heritage in sustainable development in Vietnam,” was jointly held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and the Hanoi People’s Committee. It formed part of activities marking 35 years since Vietnam ratified the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The participants reviewed the protection and promotion of world cultural and natural heritage values in Vietnam, and exchanged experience in state management and the optimization of world heritage values in local socio-economic development. Hanoi seeks support from World Heritage Centre in restoration of Kinh Thien Palace
Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Dinh Tien Dung on March 24 asked for continued support from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC) for a project to restore Kinh Thien Palace in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, which was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.
