Da Nang wants to beef up cooperation with Japan’s Gunma prefecture
During the reception for the visiting Japanese official, Quang highlighted Da Nang’s potential and strengths in developing high technology; information technology; and tourism, expressing the hope that Da Nang and Gunma will have more cooperation and exchange activities in the near future. The People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam asked provincial departments and agencies to study the organization of a national ginseng festival next year with the aim of holding an international ginseng fest in 2024. Hanoi to spend nearly $3.9ml on overseas training for public officials
The capital city will give priority to young cadres or female cadres. Hanoi has made a plan to spend nearly VND90 billion (US$3.9 million) to train public servants in developed countries, according to the municipal People’s Committee. The committee said early this week that its overseas training project will focus on refreshing and enhancing professional knowledge and skills for around 500 cadres, civil servants, and public employees from the city’s six departments during the 2022-25 period. These departments need to make detailed plans for their qualified employees to take such refresher courses in Australia, Germany, France, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, the US and among others, the committee added. Association chairman Vu Duc Giang Some of the concerns are real. Since the UFLPA became effective in June, Vietnam has witnessed certain impacts on its garment exports to the US. Vietnam has maintained its position as the world’s third-largest cotton importer with a volume of 1.5 million tonnes per year. This includes 800,000 tonnes of cotton imported from the US, accounting for 60 per cent of the total imports. In January 2021, US Customs and Border Protection announced a ban on raw fibres, apparel, and textiles made from Xinjiang-grown cotton, which also covers cotton products made in third countries. Customs will detain imported merchandise unless the importer can prove by clear and convincing evidence that the goods were not from Xinjiang.
