An Giang Province in southern Vietnam looks to make trekking a major part of tourism plan
Tourism authorities in An Giang Province are exploring ways to include trekking in the Bay Nui Mountain region – a new hotspot for trekkers from across Vietnam – in its tourism strategy. Bay Nui (Seven Mountains) is a range of small mountains located in Tri Ton and Tinh Bien Districts, An Giang Province, near the border with Cambodia. At 716 meters above sea level and 7,500 meters in diameter, Cam Mountain is the largest in the Bay Nui mountain range. Developers expect smoother LNG policy planning
The input price of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) fluctuates between 15-20 cents/kW while the saleable electricity price is currently 6-7 cents/kW only. This will be an obstacle in the future because Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) will have to buy high and sell low. Despite the mandatory use of the standard form wholesale market power purchase agreement (PPA), complete with untenable fuel cost pass-through clauses being imposed on would-be LNG project sponsors, the market will never accept the proposition. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh questioned why the latest draft of the Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8) seeks to effectively block any new solar power projects until 2030, since “solar power costs are getting cheaper and cheaper, and energy storage battery technology is becoming more advanced at more acceptable pricing”. The LNG gas power project is scheduled to start construction in the second quarter of 2022 According to calculations by the Ministry of … [Read more...] about Developers expect smoother LNG policy planning

Meta slashes hiring plans, girds for ‘fierce’ headwinds
"If I had to bet, I'd say that this might be one of the worst downturns that we've seen in recent history," Zuckerberg told workers in a weekly employee Q&A session, audio of which was heard by Reuters. Meta has reduced its target for hiring engineers in 2022 to around 6,000-7,000, down from an initial plan to hire about 10,000 new engineers, Zuckerberg said. Meta confirmed hiring pauses in broad terms last month, but exact figures have not previously been reported. In addition to reducing hiring, he said, the company was leaving certain positions unfilled in response to attrition and "turning up the heat" on performance management to weed out staffers unable to meet more aggressive goals. "Realistically, there are probably a bunch of people at the company who shouldn't be here," Zuckerberg said. "Part of my hope by raising expectations and having more aggressive goals, and just kind of turning up the heat a little bit, is that I think some of you might decide that this … [Read more...] about Meta slashes hiring plans, girds for ‘fierce’ headwinds
