Some 20 Vietnamese journalists and officials partook in the training course from September 13 to September 22. A journalistic training course hosted by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Seoul concluded late this week (September 22). K-Pop lovers from all over the country had a chance to treat their ears to their favorite melodies at the "K-Pop I Love 2023" singing contest in downtown Hanoi. The final show of the "K-pop Songs I Love" singing contest, held by the Korea Creative Content Agency Vietnam Office (KOCCA Vietnam), rocked Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in the heart of Hanoi on September 23. Growth in retail sales in September is expected at 8.2%. Exports will drop 6.2% and imports 7%. Industrial production growth will be up 3.2%. The inflation rate may be 3.2% this month, compared to 3% last month. Tim Leelahaphan, economist for Thailand and Vietnam at Standard Chartered Bank, said: "As the economy is recovering, we will no longer be so dependent on monetary policy." Researchers have discovered 16 new species of the elusive Loboscelidia, a type of parasitoid wasp, following a recent exploration in Vietnam that also uncovered their unique egg-burying behavior, according to ScienceDaily . The findings by scientists from Kyushu University in Japan and Vietnam’s National Museum of Nature were published in the European Journal of Taxonomy. Loboscelidia wasps are 2-5 mm in body length. The discovery has expanded the global count of the species by 30 percent to 67. While unnoticed by people, the wasps perform a vital function in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Assistant Professor Toshiharu Mita and Dr. Yu Hisasue of Kyushu University’s Faculty of Agriculture, together with Dr. Pham Hong Thai of the National Museum of Nature in Vietnam, conducted field surveys at six sites across the Southeast Asian country, setting traps and using nets to capture the tiny parasitoid wasps. The Red Sea's spectacular coral reefs face a new threat, marine biologists warn -- the mass death of sea urchins that may be caused by a mystery disease. Because the long-spined creatures feed on algae that can suffocate corals, their die-off could "destroy our entire coral reef ecosystem", warned scientist Lisa-Maria Schmidt. In Israel's Red Sea resort of Eilat, which borders Jordan and Egypt, Schmidt recalled the moment she and her colleagues first witnessed the population collapse. "When we jumped into the water, all of a sudden all those specimens we used to see before were gone, and what we saw was skeletons and piles of spines," she told AFP . A shrimp festival will be organized in Ca Mau Province, the southern tip of Vietnam, for the first time between December 13 and 16, featuring shrimp-eating and octopus-catching competitions. Such distinctive contests will promisingly please visitors during the fest. Other activities, including a shrimp-drawing contest, a fishery guessing game, and a program of making sea creatures with coconut leaves, will delight revelers. Tran Hieu Hung, director of the Ca Mau Province Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said on Sunday that the event will also treat visitors to a seafood fest alongside seafood-based contests.
