All catering services in HCM City required to close

The Hanoitimes - Café and restaurants, fitness centers, spa, and hair salons in Ho Chi Minh City have suspended operations from March 24 to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Ho Chi Minh City authorities have requested all catering services in the locality to close from 18.00 of March 24 to March 31 to limit crowds and help prevent the Covid-19 pandemic more effectively. One restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City announces closure according to the city's order. All catering services including fitness centers, spa, hair salons and restaurants with a size of more than 30 people in Ho Chi Minh City are requested to cease operations under a decision of Standing Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem. This decision is made in the context of the fast spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the city and the effort of the entire country to contain it. From March 15, the city authorities have requested all 180 bars and beer clubs, nearly 500 karaoke bars, parlors, cinemas and online game shops to close. As of March 24, the city reported 30 cases of infection (including three cured); 1,526 cases that have contact with patients under supervision; eight cases are awaiting test results; 8,476 people are being quarantined in concentrated centers in the city; 541 quarantined in surrounding provinces and 1,093 are conducting self-isolation at home. Staff in one cafe and restaurant in District 1, HCMC are cleaning up and stop its restaurant. According to Director of the city's Department of Health Nguyen Tan Binh, two infected people who potentially spread the virus in the community include a British pilot, identified as patient No.91, and a number of Muslims attending a religious gathering in Malaysia and returning to Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam logs no new COVID-19 infections on March 1 morning Vietnam documented zero COVID-19 infections in the past 12 hours as of 6:00 am on March 1, leaving the national tally unchanged at 2,448 patients, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Earlier, Vietnam reported 16 COVID-19 cases at 6pm on February 28, including 12 locally infected cases in the northern province of Hai Duong, the country's largest COVID-19 hotspot, and four imported cases in the southern provinces of Tay Ninh and Dong Thap. Of the total infections, there were 1,542 domestically-transmitted cases, including 849 recorded since the latest outbreak hit the northern province of Hai Duong on January 27. Ten cities and provinces nationwide have gone through 16 consecutive days without any locally-infected cases of COVID-19, including Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Binh Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Gia Lai, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, Hanoi has recorded 14 straight days of no coronavirus cases. A total 60,693 people who came in close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine nationwide, including 560 at hospitals, 12,298 at other quarantine sites, and 47,835 at home. Among patients under treatment, 62 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 53 twice, and 95 thrice. Report from the Treatment Sub-committee showed that Vietnam has seen 1,876 recoveries so far. In a bid to live safely with the pandemic, people should strictly follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K message: khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering), and khai bao y te (health declaration)./. Non-essential services in Hanoi stop to minimize Covid-19 contagion

The Hanoitimes - Bars, parlors, cinemas and stadiums in Hanoi will remain shut to avoid coronavirus transmission through social gatherings. The Hanoi city government on March 25 asked competent agencies to enforce the closure of unnecessary business services in the city in a tougher move to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. Ta Hien Street (Photo: Zing) Non-essential businesses including karaoke bars, parlors, online game stores, cinemas, stadium, and fitness facilities are requested to close while grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations could remain open. Previously, Hanoi’s authorities requested the closure of entertainment services until the end of March but did not state concretely as to what services should be ceased like their peers in Ho Chi Minh City. On March 24, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee suspended all catering and entertainment services including fitness centers, spa, hair salons and restaurants with capacity of more than 30 people in the locality from 18.00 on March 24 to March 31. At least eight people have been infected with the coronavirus due to their connection with a bar named Buddha in the city's District 2. At the meeting with local governments and ministries on March 24, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered the closure of non-essential services across the country to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
