By the end of June 8, when competitions of most sports had completed, Vietnam gained 66 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals. These results helped Vietnam secure the third position on the medal standings, following Indonesia (153 gold medals) and Thailand (123) and much outperforming the fourth-placed Malaysia (46). (Photo: VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) - As of 8:30 pm on July 8, the Vietnamese delegation pocketed 66 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals, ranking third in the medal tally after Indonesia and Thailand at the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia. Although there is one more official competition day on June 9 at ASEAN Para Games 12, Vietnam is certain of the third place in the medal tally because it has left fourth-placed Malaysia far behind. Malaysia had won 46 gold, 38 silver and 29 bronze. On June 8, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu bagged one more gold medal, one silver and one bronze, becoming the most successful Vietnamese female athlete at ASEAN Para Games 12 with a total five gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
