Lao Dong newspaper, has had eight individual exhibitions and joined a photographer training course hosted by Indochina Media Memorial Foundation, which was founded in London in 1991 in memory of journalists who died covering the Indochina conflicts from 1945 to 1975. His works are collected by the US initiative WIN which stands for Worldwide Image Navigation, a collection of independent minds and creative perspectives from gifted photographers worldwide. The 43-year-old has received honorable mentions for several years at Europe's leading photography competition Px3 in Paris and similar recognition from the International Photography Award. He won top award at Australia's photo contest "People and Planet" in 2011, after taking the same position at the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards in the UK the same year. Vietnamese student wins Sony World Photography Awards
Nguyen Hoang Hiep, an architect student in Hanoi, won the Enhanced category of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards, which is jointly held by the World Photography Organization and Sony and is widely recognized as one of the world's leading photography competitions. At the award-granting ceremony which took place in London in the UK on Apr 26 (Vietnam time), Hiep received a prize of US$5,000 and a Sony camera. (VOV) - Vietnamese photographer Tran Viet Van has achieved two certificates of Honourable Mention for his photos: "Memory No. 5" and "Memory No. 9" in the UK's Fine Art competition. Ngo Thanh Minh's photograph, entitled Lighting Dream, won the Vietnam National Award at the Sony World Photography Awards. Ngo Thanh Minh's Lighting Dream. The Hue City resident's winning photograph was chosen as the single best entry in any of the awards' 10 open categories. "I am honoured that the jury appreciated my photo. This is a great opportunity for photographers around the world to learn and take up challenges in their work," Minh said. "The photo was taken on the Perfume River in Hue City when two girls were releasing the lights to pray for their families. This is a Vietnamese tradition unique to Huế City, which is followed to wish for a happy and peaceful life." Vietnam photographer to have picture exhibited in UK next year
A Vietnamese photographer will have one of his photos displayed at an exhibition in London next year as a reward for being the runner-up in a photography contest that wrapped up last week, the contest’s organizer has announced on its website. Ly Hoang Long’s photo will be on view at a display at London’s Royal Geographical Society from July 24 to September 5, 2015. Long was named the runner-up in the "One Shot" category of the 2014 Travel Photographer of the Year contest for his photo depicting two children flying kites on a sand hill in the central Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan. The contest kicked off on May 23 and concluded on December 11.
