The company will open the 134-key lifestyle resort as part of a strategic plan that includes a new mall, hospitality asset management services, and other tourism-related projects. Its name, Wafaifo, derives from 'wa' from water, and 'faifo', the historical name of Hoi An. Wafaifo intends to offer hospitality project consultancy services across Indochina, drawing on the hotel industry expertise of its co-founders, managing director Pieter van der Hoeven and commercial director Mikkel Krantz. AusCham-given ambulance ship left idle for 7 months in southern Vietnam
An ambulance boat that the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AusCham) gave to Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang Province, southern Vietnam in August last year has yet to be put to use. Dong Hoang Tho, director of the Phung Hiep District Medical Center, on Wednesday said that the boat has been left to sit due to the fact that there is currently no captain, though someone has just been appointed to the position and is currently enrolled in a ship piloting course. Tho added the ambulance boat is expected to be used during the flooding season. AusCham in August handed over the ambulance boat to the Phung Hiep District People’s Committee in order to help transport patients, especially those living in hard-to-reach neighborhoods, to safety. According to the announcement, Laos will suspend the import of pork, including live pigs and processed products, from Vietnam. Relevant units will monitor illegal import at international, local and international border gates and international airports. Additionally, pork that has been smuggled or illegally imported into Laos must be destroyed. In 2020, Laos suspended the import of pork from China and Thailand after detecting seven outbreaks of African swine fever with 973 dead pigs in Salavan province. Photo: Giang Lam Vietnam's export price of 5% broken rice has been the highest in the world for several months since August 2022, surpassing Thailand's by US$15-27 per ton and India's by US$40-50 per ton, according to a report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT). Last year, Vietnam's rice export volume reached a 10-year high of 7.1 million tons. Despite a more than 20 percent drop in export volume in the first month of 2023, the upward trend in rice export prices continued, averaging more than $519 per ton in the first two months of the year. The price increase was about 7%, offsetting the decline in volume, MoIT said. Dragon fruit export turnover reaches 47 million USD
Export turnover of Vietnamese dragon fruit is expected to top 1 billion USD in 2023./. Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that the country's total export value of dragon fruit so far this year topped 47 million USD, a fall of 48.7% compared to the same period las year. The fruit has been exported to more than 40 countries and territories with China, India, the US, Thailand and the Netherlands being the biggest import ers. However, in the first two months of 2023, its export saw a slump in some markets such as the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan with decreases of 25.9% and 35.4%, respectively year-on-year.
