HCM City to build ‘golden brands’ for agricultural products

In 2020, none of the 30 enterprises receiving the HCM City Golden Brand Award were in the agricultural sector. Hoan has encouraged enterprises to develop brands for local agricultural products and services. Cần Giờ District specialties, for example, that have already been branded include dried shark catfish, bird's nest and mango. The development of high-value agricultural products together with tourism will benefit the local economy and maintain agriculture. Đinh Minh Hiệp, director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the city will continue to call for more investment in agriculture. The aim is to increase its number of agricultural enterprises to 2,000 from the 1,910 enterprises in 2020. Ninety per cent of agricultural enterprises in Việt Nam are small or micro sized, with capital of less than VNĐ10 billion (US$430,000). Thousands of youngsters join army

Yesterday, the Military Service Council of Thu Duc City and 21 other districts in Ho Chi Minh City held ceremonies to see off local young men to the army and public security force. The new recruits from Thu Duc City are ready to fulfil their duty to the nation. In 2021, 4,628 citizens from Ho Chi Minh City perform their service in military and public security forces, including two female citizens. Among them, 2.05% are official Party members, while 41.95% possess college and university qualifications. On the same day, localities in Military Region 2, including Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Son La, Lai Chau and Dien Bien, also hosted ceremonies to see young people off for military service. The enlisted were sent to 10 units belonging to the Military Region 2, the High Command of the Border Guard and units under the Ministry of Public Security. Among them, over 82% are between the ages of 18 and 21, nearly 50% are from H’Mong ethnic groups, and more than 15% belong to the Dao and Tay ethnic groups. Over 1,000 sent written requests to volunteer to perform their military service. Young men from Lao Cai City join the army. Young army conscripts in Son La City say goodbye to family members before leaving for service. In the northern province of Thai Binh, thousands of young men also started to perform services in military or public security forces. Previously, the Provincial People's Committee, Thai Binh Provincial Military Council and other relevant units visited and presented gifts to newcomers in difficult circumstances. Vietnam carriers plan to resume domestic flights from April 16

The Hanoitimes - Air carriers plan to resume domestic flights after the nationwide social distancing order ends on April 15, suggest their passengers that they should use online check-in procedures via websites. VietjetAir, Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways plan to resume domestic flights from April 16 to meet travel demand after the end of the 15-day nationwide social distancing period. The airline will increase up to 7 roundtrip flights per day for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City route from April 16 to 19. From April 20, the airline plans to reopen one roundtrip flight for routes: Hanoi - Cam Ranh/Danang/Phu Quoc/Quy Nhon; Ho Chi Minh City - Danang/Hai Phong/Thanh Hoa/Quy Nhon/Vinh. On the same day, Vietnam Airlines also announced to operate two flights per day from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa. Other routes will be operated with one flight per day, including Hanoi – Danang/Phu Quoc, and Ho Chi Minh City – Danang/Hai Phong/Vinh/ Nha Trang/Phu Quoc and vice versa. Meanwhile, Vietjet Air plans to reopen three more routes from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on April 11, 12 and 14. The increase in flights is intended to meet the needs of those who have ended their isolation period. Passengers will be required to provide certificates for quarantine completion and Covid-19 negative. The low-cost airline will also operate domestic flights from April 16. The three Vietnamese airlines have been ordered to reduce the frequency of domestic flights until April 15, in a bid to the prevent the risk of contagion from pandemic-hit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other provinces and cities.
