Photo dantri.vn HÀ NỘI — Swimming and taekwondo athletes brought two gold medals each for Việt Nam on the seventh day of the 30th Southest Asian Games on Saturday in the Philippines. Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên won both the women's 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke events, defending her titles comfortably. The 23-year-old clocked 4min 13.20sec in the 400m freestyle. Gan Ching Hwee of Singapore and Natthanan Junkrajang from Thailand were second and third, respectively. In the latter race, Viên finished with a time of 1:02.97. Chloe Kennedy Anne Isleta and Jasmine Alkhaldi, both of the hosts, were the runners-up. Viên who is expected to win eight titles in this Games will take part in the 400m individual medley today. Experts on humanitarian mine action to gather in mid-2014

PANO – The first conference of the Experts Working Group on Humanitarian Mine Action under the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) will take place in Vietnam in mid-2014. The General Department of Politics instructs its units to popularize, ensure security and order, and prepare artistic performances for the event. Earlier, an initiative to form an ADMM+ expert working group on humanitarian mine action to overcome the aftermath of bombs and mines left by wars and conflicts, put forward by Vietnam, was adopted by the second ADMM+ in August 2013 in Brunei. Of which, Vietnam and India are the first co-chairs of the group. Former VOV reporter Le Thong remembers the day he arrived at the Truong Son Trail in 1972. The two things that impressed him most were the dramatic atmosphere there with soldiers marching and supply trucks running day and night along the trail, and the soldiers’ iron will and endurance to overcome difficulties for national salvation.
