The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) announced on Wednesday that the city had just discovered a cluster of H1N1 cases in District 10, leading 20 students at an elementary school to take unscheduled sick leave. A report from the Medical Center of District 10 to the HCDC on March 16 showed an abnormal increase in the number of students taking sick leave at Vo Truong Toan Elementary School on the same day and the day before. A total of 20 students of the school became ill with symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, and vomiting during the two days. Some students had a fever of up to 39 degrees Celsius. Doctors initially determined that the children suffered from a flu and randomly took six samples of them and sent them to the Pasteur Institute in the city to test for influenza. 31 Vietnamese students suffer suspected poisoning after receiving balloons from strangers
Thirty-one students at an elementary school in Vietnam’s Central Highlands had symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and nausea after being given balloons by strangers. The incident was recorded at Ly Tu Trong Elementary School in Buon Trap Town, Krong Ana District, Dak Lak Province. Among the 31 students, 17 were admitted to the district medical center, five of whom received transfusions, a representative of the Krong Ana District Office of Education and Training said on Thursday morning. The other 14 are being monitored at home. Doctors diagnosed the children with poisoning, but the cause is unknown. Currently, the health of the poisoned students is stable. Insects blamed for skin disease outbreak in Ha Tinh
More than 100 people in a village in the central province of Ha Tinh are struggling with allergic dermatitis which is suspected to be caused by insects. The information was given by the provincial Centre for Disease Control. The diease has affected more than 100 people in Ha Tinh Seven of Dong Xuan Quyen’s family became affected by itching two weeks ago. They were itched so much that they had scratches all over their body. They took medicines based on medical advice, but their situation has not yet improved. To date, 46 households in the village, including 126 people have faced the same disease. Local authorities have investigated Phuc Thanh, detecting insects that often fly into houses. While most villagers in Son La Province, located in northwestern Vietnam, still rely heavily on pesticides when growing vegetables and fruits, 30-year-old Vu Xuan Thanh pioneers clean agriculture practices with his organic crops.
